OPI Serena Williams Grand Slam! France Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys! Welp, I saw Scream 4. It was a good mix of terrible and awesome, I laughed probably more than I should but I definitely had a couple good jump out of my chair moments. I give it the Jen stamp of approval! In other news, in case you haven’t heard, Zoya is doing their polish exchange again this year. I jumped for joy when they posted about it yesterday! It goes until the 27th and all the deets can be found on their blog here! It’s a bit different than last year and the price has gone up just a tad, $4 per bottle vs. the $3.50 it was last year…still an amazing sale. I love Zoya for giving us great promotions like this! I may have made an order of 13 polishes yesterday….eeek! Anyway…

Today I have for you the 2 new sets from the Serena Williams Grand Slam! Collection. These two new duo packs are launching in conjunction with the French Open which happens in May. They include 2 great new polishes along with 2 new shatters, Red and White!

First up is the set that contains Rally Pretty Pink and Red Shatter. Rally Pretty Pink I have pretty much been dying to see in real life since the promo photos. Guess what….it’s even better in person! If you liked the polishes from Zoya’s Sunshine Collection you will LOVE this polish. Rally Pretty Pink is a purple toned pink with golden shimmer like whoa! The golden shimmer gives this a bit of a duochrome look, which you guys know I love! The gold shimmer is amazing in the sun, I see myself getting a lot of wear out of this during this summer! The formula was great, a little sheer after the first coat and great after the second coat, if I was wearing this on it’s own I would probably do 3 coats but it’s not necessary if you are putting shatter over it. Rally Pretty Pink dries to an almost foil like finish, which I’m not usually a huge fan of but I  really enjoy it with this polish, I guess given the color I will like any finish except maybe super frosty but ya never know!
Red Shatter is the companion to Rally Pretty Pink, I have to admit when I saw these in the little box together I didn’t think they would pair very well together but I was wrong! Red Shatter over Rally Pretty Pink is fab! That golden shimmer in Rally Pretty Pink was so sparkletastic that you could see it through the shatter, it looks great! You can see it a little bit in my picture, it’s much more visible in real life. I’m looking forward to using Red Shatter over a ton of colors. I really love it, it was easy to use and cracked wonderfully. It dries matte, like most crackle/shatter polishes.
The second set be released in May consists of Spark De Triomphe and White Shatter. Spark De Triomphe is a mix of silver and gold glitter, there is a good mix of small round glitter and small hex glitter.  This was like blindingly sparkly in the sun, I was surprised any of my pictures actually came out not blurry! This seemed thick in the bottle but once I gave it a good roll between my palms it was easy to work with and not thick at all. This is a full coverage glitter, but I bet it will be a great layering polish also! I used 3 coats for full coverage,
White Shatter comes in 2nd set along with Spark De Triomphe. I found that this one did not shatter as well as Black Shatter and Red Shatter did on my first try. I will need to play with this one a bit and am already thinking of combinations I will try! Even though i’m not completely happy with the shatter effect the first time I did find that it was easier than China Glaze Crackle to work with.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
