Sephora by OPI Safari Luxe Collection Swatches

Published

on

Morning guys! Today is the last day for the Zoya Exchange…if you haven’t taken advantage of it already what are you waiting for?!? I actually got all my polishes in the mail yesterday, they are fab!

Today I have for you guys the new Safari Luxe from Sephora by OPI. I was really stoked about this from the little color blobs on Sephora’s website….especially the promise of holographic glitter in 2 of the polishes! Since I hadn’t seen swatches of any of these I took advantage of the 15% VIB coupon I had and bought the whole collection.

A Color The Can’t Be Tamed, I don’t know know what to call this. Green/Gold/Tan? A little bit of shimmer. I am not a fan of this one for a few reasons. First, lets talk about the description and color blob on the Sephora site for this polish. “opaque mint green with fine holographic glitter” WHAT? not only is this is strangest “mint green” I have ever seen but I also fail to see any kind of holographic glitter. Perhaps they have milled this holo glitter so fine that it has just disappeared? There is a bleak multi colored shimmer that I could only see in the macro shots, maybe that is what they are referring to? I also posted a picture of the horribly inaccurate color blob from Sephora site down below.Maybe I’m being a little harsh with this one, but it really bugs me that companies throw around the word holographic and then this is the result. It seems like some kind of ploy to get us to buy it, worked with me!

Formula wise, this wasn’t very great in that department either…very sheer. I needed 4 coats for full opacity.

It’s not all bad you guys, let’s move on to Caught With My Khakis Down a khaki army green. I love this one SO much. I also think if fits the Safari theme really well.  The formula was fantastic! Not sure if I have any dupes to this or not, I need to go through my stash and look!

Don’t Feed The Hand Models is a pink toned light tan. Probably my favorite of the collection, in some light this was almost perfect mannequin hands! I also lol at the name of this! The formula was good, a bit streaky but it evened out nicely at 3 coats.

I Don’t Bite is a light blurple shimmer…frostalicious finish. This is the other polish gone wrong in the collection. Again promising holo glitter and all we get is a tiny bit of multicolored shimmer which is barely visible. The color blob on Sephora’s site, again horribly inaccurate (I put up a picture of it below). The formula was a bit better than it’s greenish cousin, still a bit sheer but I only needed 3 coats of this one.

Once A Cheetah, Always A Cheetah is a bright orange with a golden yellow shimmer. Nothing new or unique by any means but I always love colors like this, no matter how many I might own. The formula was great, I used 2 coats for full opacity.

Last up is Wild About Shimmer, a sheer golden shimmer in a Champagne base according to Sephora. I didn’t try and build this up, and actually sort of like it showing VNL…not sure if I will ever actually wear it this way but we’ll see. Looks to be the same as China Glaze White Cap, Overall, I really love Caught With My Khakis Down, Don’t Feed The Hand Models and Once a Cheetah, Always a  Cheetah. I’d pass on Wild About Shimmer and the 2 “hologprahic” glitter and a big giant fail.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
