China Glaze Haunting Halloween Collection 2011 Swatches!

Published

on

Good Morning! Today I have for you guys China Glaze’s Halloween 2011 Collection, the name of the collection is Haunting! I’ve been looking forward to this since I saw it at CosmoProf, needless to say the second I saw it on Victoria Nail Supply I bought most of it! China Glaze usually does my favorite Halloween Collections, I have a feeling that will be true for this year also, at least judging by the halloween polishes I already have. The Haunting Collection brings us 2 new glitters and  2 new cremes along with Black Mesh and Ghoulish Glow, which have previously been released. I ended up buying everything except for Black Mesh, I have enough black crack polish to last the rest of my life.

Crimson is a very dark blacked purple. This one looks black pretty much all of the time. You can see the purple poking out around the edges of my nails but other than that it really just looked black. I love vampy shades like this but meh…I feel like I have enough. The formula was good, a little thick but that made it cover well.

Ghoulish Glow is a fab glow in the dark polish that China Glaze put out a while back, I missed out on it that time so I had to pick it up this time around! It’s pretty sheer I don’t think you could build it up to be opaque but I haven’t tried. I have it over Haunting which I have swatches of below. I really like the way it transforms Haunting, it made it look all matte and greyish.
I have to say, I am not super impressed. When I only used 1 coat over Haunting it hardly glowed at all. It was much better at 2 coats and who knows…it might work better over lighter shades. I guess I just expected more.

Haunting is a gorgeous black packed with silver glitter. I am such a fangirl of these kinds of polishes, I need to own every black with silver glitter I can find, they look like the sky at night! The formula was great, thick but very easy to work with.

it’s Alive is a murky green jelly base packed with round and hexagon shaped green glitter. I think this one right here will probably be the polish that everyone needs from this collection. As soon as I saw it I went ooohhhhh and put it on immediately. I had heard some talk of people thinking this was dupey to Zombie Zest that came out last Halloween…it’s not, not even close or similar actually. I have a comparison down there for you guys! The formula was pretty thick, not surprising due to the amount of glitter. It was very easy to apply though! This did dry a bit matte, it also ate top coat like crazy!

Near Dark is a very dark blacked green. Yes, it is green…I promise. It’s probably the darkest green ever, I only know it’s green because you can tell in the bottle and on the first coat. This looked grey in the PR stuff I grabbed for this collection as CosmoProf so I was a bit surprised that it was green when I started putting on the first coat. This is just like Crimson for me, I like it but I feel like I’ve seen it and bought it a bunch of times before. I would have rather seen another glitter instead of this. Good formula again, a little thick but easy to control.

Overall, I don’t think I like this as much as last year’s Halloween Collection from China Glaze but it’s pretty great. The glitters are both fantastic, It’s Alive is for sure a must have. I would pass on the 2 cremes if you already have something similar.

These are available now on Victoria Nail Supply. I’m guessing they will be available soon at stores like Sally’s but I haven’t spotted them there yet.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
