Orly Holiday 2011 Holiday Soireé Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Good Morning! Today I have Orly’s Winter/Holiday Collection for you guys! I originally saw this for the first time at Cosmoprof in Vegas. Initially only one polish from this collection caught my eye, I was interested to see if I might be more excited about the rest once I saw them in person. I’ll be talking more about that after the cut!

Androgynie is a smoky black jelly filled with gold and silver glitter and chunky hex glitter. When I saw this at Cosmoprof I was blown away, it is gorgeous in the bottle. I’m kind of torn about whether or not I like it on the nail. On one hand I really like it but on the other I feel like the black base eats a lot of the awesome glitter. Next time I wear this I will probably layer it over black, I think it might help it out a little bit. The formula was okay, my main issue was that I had to sit at my desk and shake this sucker for about 10 minutes before I could put it on. All the glitter had sunk to the bottom and it didn’t want to leave there. Once the glitter cooperated it was easy to work with. I used 2 coats for the photos below, for future I would either wear 3 coats of this on it’s own or layer it over black.

Au Champagne is a shimmery white. I didn’t think much of this until I got it on but it is gorgeous! It’s one of those white polishes that is actually wearable. The shimmer in this is gorgeous and the polish dries to a satin matte so it really brings it out. Au Champagne reminds me of a polish that would have been part of the Wishes Collection that Misa put out earlier this year! If you liked that Misa Collection you will love this. This was easily my favorite polish out of this collection. It was a little thick going on but it was easy to apply.

Ingenue is purple toned pink with a golden shimmer. Yes, we have seen this what…3 times already this year? Maybe more, honestly I’ve lost count. If you have OPI Rally Pretty Pink or Zoya Faye you can pass on this. Formula wise it was like it’s twins, a 3 coater.

Le Chateau is a very very dark blue creme, almost a jelly….a crelly? I thought this was black until I put it on, then after I put on 2 coats I thought it was black again. The only proof that it was blue was around the edges. I wish it was a little more apparent that this was blue, 99.99999% of the time it just looked black, even out in direct sunlight.

Oui is a purple packed with golden shimmer. Another we have seen before, this one is very similar to OPI It’s My Year. I’m not sure if they are dupes but probably close enough to not need both. I will do a comparison should I ever find my bottle of Its My Year, I am in desperate need of another Helmer so I literally have polish all over my house and I can’t find anything 🙁 lol!

Overall, this collection get a big meh from me. Androgynie and Au Champagne are the only 2 I’m excited to have. The others are either boring or have been done several times this year. I really liked those golden shimmer packed shades until we got like 14 of them around the same time. What do you guys think? Will you be picking up any polishes from this collection?

I’m not sure when you will see this collection start to pop up at stores like Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta. I found it at a local place that puts stuff out early. Last time I looked it wasn’t up on any of the etailers I usually check out 🙁 Hopefully it’s up soon if there are any you are lemming from this collection!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
