Models Own Beetlejuice Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Good morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend, I did! I went to see a band called Tonight Alive on Saturday. Then on Sunday I went a little nuts at Sephora, it was fun but my bank account isn’t too thrilled! Today I have maybe the most exciting collection to come out this year, the Beetlejuice Collection from Models Own! At least it is the most exciting one for me, Beetlejuice is one of my all time favorite movies and to make this even better the collection is filled with duochromes and multichromes! I actually just re-watched Beetlejuice on Saturday when I got home from the concert…if for some weird reason you have never seen it you really should go get it and watch it!

Before I start with the photos a few things so I don’t have to repeat them over and over. All pictures except for the ones of Emerald Black are taken in overcast sunlight (aka it was cloudy lol) or shade…I have labeled the ones that are shade. Emerald Black is in full sunlight since it finally stopped raining and was nice for a hot second on Saturday. I’m not holding the actual bottle of Models Own polish, sorry! I love the bottles but my fingers and round bottles like Models Own don’t love each other. I will have a comparison post up tomorrow for almost every shade!

Aqua Violet is a blue/purple duochrome.  The duochrome was a bit stronger in person than in my photos, my camera couldn’t capture it for some reason.

Emerald Black is a blackened base with blue green shimmer. This is the least duochrome of any of the shades but it is a surprise favorite for me. I actually wasn’t going to get it but then it was a better deal to get the set of all 5 polishes and the top coat….I’m so glad it worked out that way, I’d be sad if I didn’t have this one! The duochrome in this one is very very subtle, it goes from emerald green to a teal blue but honestly, I could only see it when I was doing my nails under the lamp I have a daylight bulb in. No matter what light I was in other than that (direct sunlight, shade, the light coming through the window in my room etc…) I could not see the color shift. Either way, duochrome or not it’s gorgeous!

Overall, I LOVE this collection! Way to go Models Own, seriously…this is just wow. If you like duochromes you will love this. I actually don’t have any dupes for anything in this collection (more on that tomorrow!) so these are all a welcome addition to my stash.  My only complaint….the names, they are so uncreative, Tim Burton would not approve. I’ve decided to give them new Beetlejuice appropriate names which you can see below.

Emerald Black= Lydia. It looks like something she might like.
Purple Blue= Ghost With The Most. Let’s face it, it’s awesome so it gets a name that conveys that.
Golden Green= Betelgeuse. This shade kind of reminds me of his hair
Pinky Brown= Jump In The Line. I know this makes no sense, I just really like that song and it makes me think of the movie.
Aqua Violet= Winter River. The name of the town the movie is set in, plus I think it actually kind of fits with the color.

The Beetlejuice Collection is available now on http://www.modelsownit.com/, it looks like Pinky Brown and Golden Green are out of stock right now but no worries…they will be back. According to Models Own this collection is NOT limited edition. In US dollars it equalled out to about $50 for the entire set (the one that includes all 5 polishes and the top coat) that was after shipping. IMO that is a pretty great deal for polishes like these. Last I heard everything would be back in stock towards the end of November if you are waiting to get the entire set.

I leave you with one of my favorite parts of the movie:

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
