OPI Nicki Minaj Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a great New Years Eve and New Years Day! I actually slept right through NYE ūüôĀ I couldn’t sleep at all on Friday night and I laid down to take a “nap” around 2pm on NYE and slept for like 17 hours haha! Apparently I was more tired that I thought I was!

Today I have the Nicki Minaj Collection to show you guys! I know there has been a lot of buzz about this so I’m excited to finally have it, it’s a good way to start off 2012! The Nicki Minaj Collection brings us 3 new creme polishes, 2 glitters and a new shade of Shatter! Click the read more button below to see reviews and photos of each shade!

Did It On ‘Em is a yellow toned green creme, a¬†chartreuse¬†kind of color. I wish my Grandpa was still alive because man….he would hate this lol! Chartreuse was like his least favorite color ever…his thoughts about it would have been funny! ¬†This one is a bit lighter in real life, my camera wanted to think to was neon for some reason. This reminds me a lot of Fiercely Fiona, I think it might be just a bit more green than that was though. I wish I had kept that polish so I could compare them (I hated Fiercely Fiona and swapped it away a while back!). Formula wise it was on the thick side, it was also streaky. I needed 3 coats to level everything out!

Fly is a teal creme. Not a unique polish by any means, but very pretty nonetheless! I haven’t had a chance to look through my stash for a dupe but I’m sure I have something like it! Even though it isn’t super unique I really love it…it has a nice kind of dusty quality to it! Fly was also on the thick side but it went on better than Did It On ‘Em, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Metallic 4 Life is silver hex glitter and small square silver glitter in a black base. I really love this one! I was happily surprised that the black base didn’t eat up the glitter like I thought it might. I don’t have a dupe for this one thankfully! Formula wise, it was thick and little goopy but it’s so packed with glitter that I expected that. It was surprisingly pretty easy to apply! It went on sheer at first, I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Pink Friday is a bubblegum pink creme. I’m a little torn on this one, I really like the shade but I really wanted this to be a holo like it was in the original bottle shots that were floating around for a while. Formula wise it was also on the thick side but very easy to apply…it went on nicely and leveled itself out. I used 3 coats for the photos below. This looked a bit different in every kind of lighting so I put in 1 picture of each kind haha! The first photo is in my lightbox, the second is in direct sunlight and the third is from when it was overcast outside.

Save Me is small silver glitter mixed with blue and holographic bar glitter in a clear base. Never thought I’d see OPI do bar glitter! I know a lot of people don’t like it but I do! Unfortunately I do not love this one on it’s own, the coverage isn’t great. I do like it layered though! The formula was good, not too thick. It was easy to apply, the bar glitter didn’t stick up or do anything crazy like they do sometimes. I used 3 coats of Save Me on it’s own for the first photo. The other 2 photos are 1 coat of Save Me over Did It On ‘Em.

Super Bass Shatter is a glittery magenta shatter. I’ll be the first to say I am tired of crack polish…I’m ready for the next trend. I guess maybe regular folks still like it and that’s why it’s still coming out haha. That said…I LOVE this one. Out of all the shatters that have come out this is my¬†absolute¬†favorite! Depending on the shade you put this over it either looks like a dark magenta, like it does over Pink Friday below, or a dark purple like over Fly below. I am dying over how gorgeous this was in the sun, the subtle glitter in there is fab! It shattered really nicely, I used a medium coat of shatter and had no problems. Even if you are sick of shatter this might be a good one to pick up and put away for a little while until you aren’t sick of it anymore. I feel like down the line I would regret if I hadn’t gotten this! Like most crack polishes Super Bass Shatter dries matte, I did use a top coat for the photos below.

The Nicki Minaj Collection will be available sometime this month. I haven’t seen it out at stores like Ulta yet but if you live in California you can find it already at Planet Beauty stores!

Check back here a little later for a giveaway with this collection, yay!

*Fly and Metallic 4 Life were provided to me by Planet Beauty for review, the others I purchased with my own $$$*

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
