China Glaze Hunger Games Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Good morning! Today I have some Hunger Games polishes from China Glaze to show you guys. I was SO excited for this collection, I loved the books so when I heard there would be a polish collection to go with the first movie I was all woooo crazy fangirl excited like whoa. Then I saw swatches and was not as excited…then I saw them in person and was even less excited. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know I usually review full collections, I don’t mind buying the whole thing because most of the time I love the majority of polishes. This collection was so boring in person that I ended up leaving without half of them, it’s so unlike me. My inner hoarder was very disappointed haha. I may go back for the rest eventually but I’m kind of doubting it, I love brown, grey and taupe but I feel like I have enough and that’s all the other half of the collection seemed to be ūüôĀ

Agro is a dark shimmery green. I love me some green polish, I don’t really love this though :/ I feel bad because I feel like I should like this but it was very flat looking in person, I wish the shimmer was more….shimmery, ya know? This is one of those rare occasions where I think the polish translates better in pictures than it looks in real life. Formula wise…awful. No way to sugar coat that, it was a thick goopy hard to apply mess. Hopefully thinner will fix it if I ever decide to wear this again. I’ve heard some people say their bottle wasn’t a mess like mine so I’m guessing my bottle came from a crappy batch, if you pick this up hopefully your’s came from a good batch of polish.

Electrify is vibrant gold and red glitter in a clear base. Now this is what I’m talking about, this polish screams girl on fire to me…like I could picture Katniss wearing this during the tributes parade! Why couldn’t the whole collection be just like this?!? Needless to say, I love this. The glitter is nice and opaque, I layered it because I wasn’t expecting it to be like that! I used 1 coat of Electrify over Smoke and Ashes for the photos below!

Fast Track is a light beige with golden flecks of glitter. I love this one so hard, unfortunately I don’t think it loves my skintone…however I’ll still wear it. I really love this glitter in this, it kind of reminds me of the flakies in Essie’s As Gold As It Gets if they were crushed. I saw this polish layered over a couple darker colors on Make Up Alley and it looked amazing, if you have this and want to mix it up that would be a great way to wear it! The formula was nice, a little sheer on the first coat but it was surprisingly opaque on the 2nd coat!

Luxe and Lush is a glittery flakie. I’ve already reviewed this beauty, if you want to hear my thoughts and see it over a bunch of different colors you can check out that post here!

Riveting is a bright orange with a golden glitter running throughout. This is stunning, if you like orange polish you’ll love this one! It does feel like something I already own, I thought of a few Zoya polishes I have when I saw it. I haven’t had a chance to look at it side by side with any of them though. The formula was great on this polish, almost opaque in 1 coat! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Smoke and Ashes is blue and green microglitter in a blackish base, I say blackish because it’s so dark I’m not sure what color is actually it lol. This doesn’t look like much in photos but it’s so much better in person, one that definitely deserves to be seen in person prior to passing judgement! If you have Cult Nails Living Water I’m thinking you can probably pass on this, it’s not an exact dupe but it’s pretty close. The formula was great on this polish, a 1 coater for me!

Overall this collection gets a big giant “meh” from me, I was expecting so much better. I really love Electrify, Fast Track, Luxe and Lush and Riveting…the rest I could live without.

The Hunger Games Collection from China Glaze is available now! I’ve seen it out at Sally Beauty Supply, you can also buy it on various etailers like Transdesign, Head2ToeBeauty and Victorias Nail Supply…the list can go on and on!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
