Essie Summer 2012 Poppy-Razzi Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend! It was supposed to be beautiful here this weekend and it turned out being super crappy, especially yesterday 🙁 It was all yucky and gross here, not sure if this is a California thing but they always call it “June Gloom”…I guess we can call it April gloom now also haha!

Before I talk about polish I wanted to take a second to thank you all for the wonderful comments on my Facebook, & Twitter along with the comments on my 2 year blogging anniversary post from last week. The winner of  the $100 Gift Card to Harlow & Co is Kim J.!! I have emailed her and am waiting to hear back. It was so fun to read though everyone’s lemmings, a lot of you are on the hunt for indie polishes! I saw a lot of Lynnderellas and Dollish Polish being lusted after! Also a lot of people after Clarins 230! I hope you guys all manage to get your hands on these lemmings! There are few things more satisfying in terms of nail polish than finally getting a polish you’ve been obsessing over for a long time!

Today I have Essie’s Summer 2012 Poppy-Razzi Collection to show you guys. I was SO EXCITED for this collection, it’s 4 neon polishes from Essie. I gotta say, Essie has become a favorite brand of mine. I always steered clear of them but the last couple of years they have really stepped outside of the boring shades they were always putting out. I squealed a little bit when I saw these at Rite Aid and I am loving them on too, I hope you guys like them also!

A few things about all 4 polishes, they are brighter in real life…they are not eye searing neons but it’s impossible to capture just how bright they are in photos. These all dry a bit satin matte, I do have a top coat over each one for the photos below. The formula on all of these was pretty awesome, I’ll talk about it more with each shade but as of right now they are the nicest neons I’ve tried! They all have a bit of a jelly like finish, like a much more pigmented version of the Sorbet polishes OPI put out last Spring in the Texas Collection.

Action is a traffic cone orange neon. This one was a bit deciving in the bottle…it looked very muted, almost like a cantaloupe kind of orange. Once it was on the nail it was very bright, nothing like I expected from the bottle. Just wanted to warn you since it was the only one that was very different from the bottle to the nail, I don’t want you guys to be like wtf if you see this in a store and think it’s not neon. The formula was nice on this, it was on the sheer side but it was much more pigmented than a normal neon polish. It was a little thick but that made it easy to apply. Because of the thickness of the polish I’d recommend waiting a good 2-3 minutes between coats.

Overall I really like this collection, a couple of the polishes do remind me of the OPI sorbets (specifically Bazooka and Camera) but I love them either way since they are much more pigmented. I do wish they were more in your face neons…I’m talking like China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy…but there are so many neons coming out for summer (China Glaze and Orly both have neons for Summer!) I bet in the long run I’l be happy that these aren’t like that!

The Poppy-Razzi Collection is out now, I picked mine up at Rite Aid. I went to several drugstores this weekend and didn’t see it at any of the CVS or Walgreens stores near me yet but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until they get them!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
