Essie Wedding 2012 Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I’m planning on soaking up the sun, it’s supposed to be like 85 degrees tomorrow! Beach, here I come!

Today I have swatches of the Wedding Collection for 2012 from Essie. Usually I’m kind of meh about this collection from Essie…but this year they are pretty awesome. I don’t know if I’m so in love with them because I’m going though a pastel/muted color phase or what. I didn’t realize these were out yet but I walked into my local independent beauty supply the other day and the owner grabbed these out of the back for me. You know you have a nail polish problem with the owner of the beauty supply knows you and stashes new collections for you in the back haha!

Instant Hot is a muted white with a subtle shimmer. I didn’t realize there was shimmer in this until I started putting it on. Its so subtle that it might as well just not be there, I was so blinded by this polish in the sun that I couldn’t see it in direct sunlight. I also couldn’t see the shimmer indoors or in the shade. Amazing;y if you squint very hard at my photos you can sort of see it haha! The formula was no bueno, it wasn’t as streaky as I expected but it was very patchy. Like To Be Bad is a dusty light pink with pink shimmer. I really like this shade of pink because it had the tendency to lean a little bit peach on me! The shimmer is pretty much invisible in this polish also but not as bad as in Instant Hot…meaning I could actually see it sometimes! The formula was not too great, it was sheer but not overly streaky. I did have a problem with it dragging at the cuticle when I would apply another coat of polish. If you get this make sure you let it dry for a couple minutes between each coat.

Love & Acceptance is a muted greyed out lilac. For some reason this is looking very grey on my screen, not sure if it’s just the monitor since I’m not writing this post on the computer I edit my photos on or what. In real life it was more lilac. The formula on this was really nice, color me impressed! I expected it to be streaky and a mess but it was the absolute opposite!

Who Is The Boss is a blue grey. This is my absolute favorite of the collection. If you only get 1 from this collection this is my pick. I don’t have much to say about it because it’s pretty flawless! The formula was fantastic, it practically applied itself.

Overall I LOVE this collection, it’s not even that unique so I’m not sure why I’m so OMG over it but it’s like exactly what I’ve been wanting to wear lately. Who Is The Boss is my favorite of the collection, I’m also loving Instant Hot even though the formula sucked.

I haven’t seen this collection in any stores other than my local place yet. I’m really not sure of when this will be hitting places like Ulta, my guess is soon but I don’t know if it’s soon as in April or soon as in May. It is up on several etailers including Transdesign and Head2Toe Beauty if you like to buy polish online and are looking for these!

Edited to Add: It looks like some Ulta’s do have this collection already…I guess my local one just lags and hasn’t put it out yet!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
