Orly Flash Glam FX Collection Swatches!

Published

on

Hi guys, happy Friday! Today I have 6 more polishes from Orly’s Flash Glam FX Collection to show you. In total there are 22 glitters in this collection! I picked up the first 5 a while back, you can see them here if you missed that previous post. I’ve been waiting for the rest of the glitters to be in an actual store so I could see them in person before buying so it was a nice surprise to find them at a local place last week.

I ended up buying 6 more, the rest of the glitters were pretty but they just didn’t scream buy me. I love glitter but I think most of what I’ve wanted to see this past year has already been done by indie brands so I didn’t *need* as many of these Orly’s. Check out swatches of the 6 additional Flash Glam FX polishes I bought after the jump!

Cupcakes and Unicorns is a pink shimmer packed polish with red bar glitter. Let’s face it, I bought this for the name…it could have been the most fug glitter in the world but call it Cupcakes and Unicorns and I am sold. Luckily this is pretty gorgeous on top of having an awesome name! The shimmer in this is all kinds of great, it looks like flecks of shimmer and they have a slight duochrome to them. I do wish the bar glitter was a little more dense since it was pretty difficult to actually get any on the nail but for those of you who don’t love that kind of glitter I guess that’s a good thing. I used 1 coat of Cupcakes and Unicorns over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below. Al photos are in the shade.

Go Deeper is a teal blue base with blue, green, and holographic glitter mixed in. This is pretty much the toned down teal version of Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe. I adore this glitter, it’s very under the sea/aquarium looking….at least that’s what it makes me think of! The formula was great, you can layer this if you want but it also builds easily if you want to wear it on its own. It was great at 2 coats on its own but I ended up using 3 coats to cover up a tiny bit of visible nail line.

It’s A Meteor is red, silver, and gold glitter of all shapes and sizes in a clear base. It was love at first sight here, this was the first glitter that caught my eye when I found this display. I love all the different kinds of glitter, there is a little of everything (except for bar glitter) in here…shards, squares, hex, etc… Unfortunately, I pretty much hate the formula, it was a pain in the butt to apply…even dabbing it on was a chore. I don’t know what I need to do to fix this but I’ll find a way to make it better because I love the mix of glitter. It’s a Meteor is layered over OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.

P.S. It does seem to me that some of the silver squares in this are curling a little bit but on the nail with a coat of topcoat, they were lying flat.

R.I.P is orange glitter in a sheer black base. Oh Orly, thank you….I love me some Halloween looking glitters. If you missed out on the beloved China Glaze Fortune teller this might kill that lemming for you, it’s obviously not exactly the same but it’s probably close enough for most people. The black base of this is very sheer but I do think you could get it opaque on it’s own if you wanted to. I haven’t tried that yet but I’m guessing you’d need at least 3 coats. The formula was really nice, it was easy to get a lot of glitter on the brush and it was easy to apply. I used 1 coat of R.I.P over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below.

Sunglasses at Night is navy and holographic bar glitter in a very sheer blue base. I didn’t realize this had a tinted base until I put this on a nail wheel, unfortunately it’s so sheer that I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t get opaque on it’s own no matter how many coats you used. If you like bar glitter you’ll love this, the holographic bits were especially nice…they aren’t showing very well on my nails in the pictures but you can see them in the bottle! In person you can see the holographic bar glitter, it just doesn’t translate in photos well. Formula wise this was good, it was easy to get a good amount of glitter on the brush and no dabbing was needed to get the glitter where I wanted it. I used 1 coat of Sunglasses at Night over Nails Inc Floral Street for the photos below.

Watch It Glitter is copper glitter in a clear base. I feel like I get a lot of people asking if I know of copper glitter. Before now the only one that ever came to mind was Sephora by OPI Traffic Stopper Copper so I’m happy to have another one to tell people! I loooove this, you can’t go wrong with copper glitter in my opinion! The formula was okay, it was easy to get a ton of glitter on the brush but when I would try and wipe off a side of the brush on the neck of the bottle I would literally lose all the glitter of the whole brush…what the heck! I ended up just loading up the brush and having a ton of glitter on the nail, I quite like how it turned out. I layered Watch It Glitter over Nicole by OPI If The Blue Fits for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.

The Orly Flash Glam FX Collection is available now! At all the chain stores I’ve seen these at (Ulta & Sally Beauty) they have only had the first 5 polishes of this collection (seen here) available. I know you can buy all 22 of the glitters on OrlyBeauty.com for $10 apiece but as far as the availability in stores I have no idea when they will be there.  I wish I could tell you guys date for them, I did ask Orly’s PR if they knew but I haven’t heard back…if/when I do I’ll update this post.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
