Saturday Spam: OPI (Part 1)

Published

on

Happy Weekend! Anyone have big plans for this weekend? I plan on staying inside in the AC because it’s apparently going to be like 100 degrees here, gotta love So Cal and our endless summer. I was actually thinking about going to LA this weekend but I don’t want to deal with Carmageddon so I’m staying away. Don’t you love when the news gives the dumbest names ever to stupid crap like a freeway being closed for the weekend, I love you LA…you’re so ridiculous and amazing, please never change.

Anyway, today I have a massive spam like whoa for you guys. OPI is probably brand I own the most of and also the brand that I have the most un posted polishes from. Today I have 24 polishes to spam you with, I’m sure I still have twice this many to swatch for future spam posts…my fingers cry thinking of this haha!

P.S. the post behind the cut is VERY picture heavy, many apologies if it takes a billion years to load.

P.P.S. some of the polishes in this post are old and hard to find…some are even very hard to find. Some may cause you to pass out if you search them on ebay and see the price. I know there are folks out there on the internets that don’t like seeing pretty things that they can’t easily go find in store or online but the whole point of my Saturday Spam posts are for me to swatch my entire stash…hope you won’t hate me too much 🙂

A Ruby For Rudolph is a shimmery red. Fun fact…I found this at Nordstrom Rack about a year ago. Sometimes you find random old polishes like this at the weirdest stores…if you have a Nordstrom Rack near you try looking for OPI there, I’ve found several HTF’s!

Black Tie Optional is a subtle duochrome that goes from burgundy to gold. This is a VHTF, seriously don’t look it up on ebay…it’s one that will make you pass out from the ridiculousness people sell it for. Luckily for me a wonderful reader named Adria gifted this to me about a year and a half ago (Thank you Adria!!) The duochrome is very subtle but this is a polish I will always love!

Extra-va-vaganza! is a multicolored glitter bomb, the colors I see in it are orange, green, silver, pink, gold, and blue. I’m sure there are more though! This is nice both layered and on it’s own, it is a little thick so I don’t love wearing it on it’s own.

Gargantuan Green Grape Matte is a light green with a matte finish. I hate this polish, love the color though. This is also available in non-matte form from OPI and I would suggest that one instead, I’m not sure how the formula is but I really can’t imagine it being any worse than this.

Glacier Bay Blues is a green/purple/blue duochrome. This is another HTF that I found at Nordstrom Rack! This was on my wishlist for so long, I about died when I found it. It did not disappoint on the nail…I love this!

Here Today Aragon Tomorrow is a very dark nearly black green with a subtle shimmer. My bottle was surprisingly sheer and watery…I’m not sure if that’s because I frankened with it and only have about 1/3 of my bottle left or if that’s how it was when I got it too.

I Juggle Men is a shimmery top coat kind of polish. The shimmer is blue/purple/pink. I love this in the bottle but it’s a bit meh on the nail. It also has issues with Seche Vite…when I got this I used that top coat over it and no joke the whole nail of polish wrinkled up and peeled off, I’ve never experienced anything like that before.

Midnight Blue Glitter is a sheer charcoal grey base with silver, charcoal and bright blue glitter. If you like glitter you need this, that’s all I’m saying. It is sheer on it’s own (I used 4 coats for the photos) but it’s one I usually layer over a grey when I wear it.

Thanks So Muchness is a bright shimmery red. This was the only polish I bought from the Alice In Wonderland Collection back when it came out…oh how I kick myself for that now 🙁 I’ve managed to get my paws on Absolutely Alice but I’m pretty sure I will never own Mad As A Hatter.

Wing It! is a pink with a duochrome-y pink/purple shimmer. I’d like to call the photos below a happy accident. I had Wing It and Thanks So Muchness sitting next to each other and wondered what would happen if I layered them. I knew I’d layer Wing It since I don’t like it on it’s own but I had no idea this combo would be so great! If you have both of these please layer them…you won’t be disappointed.

Well, I am exhausted…if you made it through this whole post I applaud you. Like I mentioned at the beginning of the post several of the polishes posted are old and hard to find. You can however still find some of them in stores like Ulta, Beauty Brands, JC Penney etc…

Have a great weekend everyone!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
