Cellairis Nail Art Series #1: Studded Quilting! Tutorial + Giveaway!

Hi guys! Today I have a fun post for you, 3 things I haven’t done in a while all in 1 post! It’s some nail art, a tutorial and a giveaway woohoo! A couple of weeks ago the owner of Pomegranate Nail Lacquer approached me and asked if I’d like to collaborate with her and Cellairis, a company that makes cell phone cases, on some nail art to match Cellairis cases using Pomegranate polishes. I said heck yes, I really love the polishes I’ve tried from Pomegranate and I’m also a big fan of Cellairis, I’ve had one of their cases on my phone (this one in case you’re wondering!) for months and I love it to pieces!

This is going to be a little series, I will be doing nail art to match 3 cases in total along with the giveaway today and 1 more giveaway coming up! I thought it would be fun to also show you how I did the manicure in case you want to recreate it!

The first phone case I used as inspiration is from the Elle & Blair Collection of cases and it’s called Whimsical Fairytale in the color Sea Breeze. I picked this case because I love the quilted look it has to it along with the rhinestone details…plus the color is to die for, it matches my car!

The color I used for the manicure is Beach House from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer. I used it for both the base and top of the quilting pattern, for the base I mixed a little bit of Beach House with a white polish. I lightened it enough that you could see the pattern but not so light that it stuck out like a sore thumb!

Here is the manicure with the Cellairis phone case, it’s a pretty good match I think!

Below is the manicure and case out in the sun, depending on the lighting the case and polish go between blue and green.

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer can be purchased at for $9 a bottle! Cellairis phone cases can be purchased at, the prices range depending on the case….Whimsical Fairytale retails for $27.99.

What you’ll need:

  • 1-2 polishes of your choice, I used Pomegranate Beach House and mixed it with white for the lighter base color. You can use anything, I think this would look awesome with 2 contrasting colors!
  • Striping Tape, you can find this on ebay for very cheap. If you don’t want to buy that you could also cut scotch tape into very thin pieces.
  • Sparkly bits! I used nail art rhinestones I got at a local supply shop. You can find these on ebay and even at Sally Beauty Supply. You could also get them at your local craft store but I find that they usually don’t have rhinestones as tiny as the ones meant for nail art. Don’t like rhinestones? Try using big pieces loose glitter instead, it would look great also!
  • A dotting tool, you’ll use this to apply the rhinestones. You can buy sets of dotting tools on ebay again for very cheap. If you don’t want to invest in dotting tools you could use anything with a round end, like a bobby pin or a toothpick.
  • Top coat, any kind you like. You’ll use this to stick the rhinestones on.
  • A cutting tool, you’ll need this to cut your striping tape. I like to use cuticle nippers but scissors work just fine too.

Step 1:

Apply striping tape in a criss cross pattern onto your nail. Make sure you leave the striping tape long past your nail so you can grab it to remove the tape after you paint on your top color.

Some tips for this from my trial and error…if you don’t get this right the first time don’t give up! It took me more than a couple tries to get good lines!
  • Make sure your base color is 100% dry, the tape will pull the polish off if it’s not dry.
  • Go over the tape several times with a finger to make sure it is completely flat to the nail so polish doesn’t seep underneath it. I like to go over it with an orange stick to really make sure there are no air bubbles.
  • Remove the tape immediately after you paint your top color over it. Removing the tape while the polish is wet will give you a clean line.
  • Let the manicure dry before applying your top coat so you don’t smudge your crisp lines!
 Step 2:
Paint your top color over the striping tape, immediately after your paint on your top color on pull off the striping tape. You want to pull the tape off while the polish is wet so that you get crisp lines. What you’re left with should look like the photo below. If you don’t want to bedazzle this manicure you could stop here, I was absolutely in love with how this looked on it’s own!
Step 3:
Apply your sparkly bits! To do this I pour my rhinestones onto the top of an upside paper cup, you could use a paper plate…whatever works for you! Next to the rhinestones I dab a little bit of top coat.
To place the rhinestones take your dotting tool and dip it into your puddle of top coat, put a dot of the top coat onto your nail where you want the rhinestone to be. Next take your dotting tool and pick up a rhinestone, the top coat left on the dotting tool will grab it. Then you just put your rhinestone on top of the dot of top coat you put onto your nail…very easy! To make the manicure last longer you can put a layer of top coat over the entire nail once you’re done putting all the rhinestones where you want them.
Here is your final result! Hope the tutorial is helpful and easy to follow! If you have any questions please let me know in the comments!
Last but not least…the giveaway! Cellairis and Pomegranate Nail Lacquer sent over an extra Whimsical Fairytale phone case for the iPhone 4/4s and bottle of Beach House polish for me to give to you! Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like and (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
