Zoya Winter 2012 Ornate Collection Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have Zoya’s Winter/Holiday 2012 Ornate Collection to share with you guys! I am so excited for these, back during Fashion Week  I saw a little teaser photo floating around on the interwebs  showing tons of holographic goodness and I’ve been waiting for them to get into my hot little hands ever since. In addition to 3 gorgeous scattered holos Zoya is also giving us an amazing green shimmer, a glitter topper and a golden foil like polish!

Aurora is a medium red toned purple with a scattered holo effect. Gorgeous polish, the color the glitter…everything! What I like most about this polish, and the other 2 similar shades from the collection, is that it looks amazing out in the sun but it also looks great inside and in low lighting! The formula was also really nice, it flowed nicely on the nail and was opaque in 2 coats!

Blaze is a berry/red with a scattered holo effect. This one isn’t quite as in your face as Aurora is but the holo glitter is great out in the sun, much better than it looks in photos. The formula was great, much more opaque than I expected

Electra is silver and holographic bar glitter. You can wear this layered or on it’s own. The formula was great, it wasn’t thick but the glitter was very dense. If you wanted to wear this on it’s own I think you’d need 3-4 coats.

Logan is a dark forest green with green and gold shimmer. The only way Zoya could have made this better is if they had put some of that holo glitter in it! The formula was fantastic, nearly a 1 coater for me! I used 2 coats to cover up a couple patchy spots but it was barely needed!

Storm is black with a scattered holo effect. *dead* this is amazing, my favorite of the collection by far. It looks like a galaxy on your nails out in the sun, if I should ever attempt a galaxy manicure this will definitely be what my base is. The formula was great, a bit sheer on the first coat but fully opaque on the second. Storm also dried really shiny!

Ziv is a yellow gold with a foil like finish, it also has a ton of golden flake like glitter in it. It’s hard to see the glitter in photos but you can see it in person. It’s a nice twist on a classic gold foil! You guys know that gold isn’t my favorite but I quite like this one, the glitter gives it a little something that makes it special. The formula was really nice, there was some texture because of the glitter but it was opaque in 2 coats and smooth with a coat of top coat.

Overall, I think Zoya did amazing with this collection. It feels like a holiday collection but with a fantastic twist on finishes that makes it stand out from the rest. I really like all 6 polishes but if I had to pick favorites they would be Storm, Aurora and Blaze!

The Zoya Ornate Collection is available now on Zoya.com, each polish retails for $8!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
