Color Club Holiday 2012 Winter Affair Collection Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Has everyone recovered from their election night anxiety yet? I’m so glad they called the Presidential race early so I could move on to creating an ulcer over the local election results. I’m scared to look and see who won those since I’m sure everyone I don’t care for got elected to our city council based on the numbers when I went to bed last night ūüôĀ

Today I have Color Club’s gorgeous Holiday 2012 called Winter Affair to share with you guys! This collection brings us 6 gorgeous new polishes, 1 of them being a flakie top coat! Just a note about this collection, you can find this at Sally Beauty Supply (I saw it at my local store last week). However, it seems to be a bit different i.e. a couple of the colors are different but named the same thing. The Sally’s version of this collection is also scented, if you buy them elsewhere they just smell like nail polish ūüôĀ

Berry and Bright is a bright shimmery red. The formula was not my favorite, I found it to be thick…it’s one I will thin before wearing again. It was nice and opaque though and I only needed 1 coat for full coverage, I guess that’s a fair trade off. This dried a bit flat and dull looking, but it’s absolutely gorgeous with a coat of top coat!

Gift of Sparkle is purple and chunky holographic glitter in a purple tinted base. This one was a surprise for me, it went on a little darker than I was expecting. The formula was a little thick but I had no application issues. This did dry dull and with texture, it’s one you will need a couple coats of top coat to smooth out.

Glitter Wonderland is a gorgeous shimmery purple. In the shade this had a little bit of a pink flash to it. I’m not sure how unique this is but it’s one of my favorites from the collection! The formula was really nice,

Ho-Ho-Holly is a green foil. There is a lot of gold in this, that sets it apart from a lot of the other similar greens we’ve seen for holiday this year. The formula was great Winter Affair is a vampy maroon shimmer. This is another favorite of the collection for me, it’s the kind of color I always grab for when it starts getting cold out. It reminds me a bit of Zoya Jem just without the gold that Jem has. The formula was great,

Snow-Flakes is a flakie top coat. The flakes flash green, red, orange and gold depending on the color you layer it over and how you’re holding your hand. This is a dupe to a lot of other flakie top coats like Essie Shine of the Times, Nubar 2010, Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure etc..

I layered Snow-Flakes over each color from this collection. I really like how different it looks over certain colors, my favorite combo was over Glitter Wonderland. I was also surprised by how great Snow-Flakes looked over Gift of Sparkle.

The Winter Affair Collection is available now, I didn’t see it on the ¬†Color Club website¬†when I looked last night but I’m assuming it will be there soon. ¬†Several etailers including Transdesign and Head2ToeBeauty already have it available on their websites. You can also find this collection at Sally Beauty Supply but like I mentioned at the beginning of the post the collection is slightly different. I’ve heard that people are finding this collection at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s stores aswell but I’ve yet to see them at those stores near me!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
