SquareHue December 2012 Box Swatches & Review

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have a brand new monthly nail polish subscription service to tell you about called SquareHue! I’m pretty excited about this, I’ve been looking for something other than Julep to subscribe to that is focused on polish. I subscribe to a few monthly boxes, of course you guys know about BarkBox, but I also subscribe to a couple beauty ones like MyGlam (ipsy? whatever they call it now). It’s always a nice treat to get polish in those boxes but lets face it, I’d rather just have ALL polish…so this is perfect for me!

SqaureHue is a brand new subscription service that only sends nail polish, as of right now they only ship within the US (no idea if that will change, sorry international ladies). Each month they will be sending out 3 full sized new polishes. They are their own house brand and come in really gorgeous bottles, they remind me of the Urban Outfitters bottles just for reference. All of the polishes are Big 3 and Camphor Free and cruelty free! In addition to all of that SquareHue also donates a portion of each monthly subscription to charity, their current focus is Human Trafficking. If you want read more about SquareHue please check out their FAQ on their website here!

The cost of the service is $21 per month, that includes shipping. However, good news…I have a promo code to share with you that makes the subscription $14.99 per month for the life of your subscription, woohoo! The following code is only good until December 24th 2012, to sign up for the $14.99 promo price go to SquareHue.com and use the code DECBLOGGER13 at checkout when you go to purchase your subscription. There is a link to enter it right above where you enter your billing address! I do not get any kind of credit for anyone who uses the code…I’m just passing along a good deal!

  • Sugar Plum: gorgeous jewel toned purple shimmer. The formula was fantastic, it was easy to apply and flowed nicely. I used 2 coats for full opacity. This shade is on my index finger in the photos below.
  • Champagne Toast: a golden foil like shimmer. The formula was again, fantastic! Much more opaque than I expected it to be and fully opaque in 2 coats. Champagne Toast is on my middle nail for the photos below.
  • Holly Berry: Jewel toned red shimmer. Perfect for the holidays! The formula was great, not thick at all and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below, you can see Holly Berry on my ring finger.
  • The brushes in these polishes were nice, they are short and fairly narrow. Below is the brush from Holly Berry next to the brush from my bottle of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. For the ladies out there with small nail beds you will really enjoy these! As much as I love big wide brushes I like these smaller ones also, it makes it easy to be very precise with application!
  • Overall, I really like this December box. I did get this one for review but I already went and signed myself up for the service. I can’t wait to see what we get for January! To sign up for SqaureHue or to read more about their service checkout SquareHue.com

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
