Essie Resort 2013 Collection Swatches & Comparisons

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have Essie’s Resort Collection for ya! I stumbled upon these the other day while I was at Rite Aid and couldn’t resist, I managed to talk myself out of the Essie Spring Collection but the green and blue in this collection were just too pretty for me to say no to. Essie’s Resort Collection for this year is 4 pretty shades, 3 of them are light but bright which I really enjoy and 1 I bought just so I could show you the whole collection…totally normal right?

Check out all the swatches and a few comparisons by clicking the read more button below!

All swatches in this post are in natural sunlight, it was a bit cloudy when I was swatching these so you can see cloud reflections in some of the shots…sorry about that!

Come Here! is a red/orange creme. This is the one that didn’t really do much for me in the store but I like it on, it leans more towards orange than I thought it was going to. The formula was great, it was nice and creamy…a breeze to apply!

Below is Come Here! vs Essie Ole Caliente. I thought for sure these would be dupes, they are very close but not exact. Ole Caliente is a shade or two darker and it leans more red. The difference is slight but I could tell them apart on the nail, at least in person…it’s not as obvious in photos.

First Timer is a minty green. This one didn’t disappoint, sure mint is nothing spectacular but this is a nice one and it doesn’t give me lobster hands which is rare! The formula was ok, I found it a little hard to control for some reason, it kept wanting to pool in my cuticles. The opacity was nice though so I can’t complain too much.

Below is First Timer vs Essie Mojito Madness and Essie Turquoise & Caicos. Clearly no dupes between these 3, they aren’t even close.

P.S. isn’t it weird how First Timer looks much lighter when you put it between those 2 shades than it does on its own. I think so….or maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me!

In The Cab-ana is a dusty but bright blue. I feel like we’ve seen a lot of this kind of blue this year and that’s a-ok with me! The formula was really nice, easily my favorite of the collection! I

Below is In The Cab-ana vs OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook and Essie Where’s My Chauffeur. No dupes between these 3 but if you aren’t crazy for blues and you already have Can’t Find My Czechbook you could probably pass on In The Cabana. Can’t Find My Czechbook is a few shades darker and a bit dustier but definitely in the same family. Where’s My Chauffeur is much more green than the other 2.

Under Where? is a light pink toned purple. I really like this shade but man…the formula left a lot to be desired. This was a bit of a crelly type formula but I found it to be really uneven and it didn’t level out very well even with a nice topcoat.

Below is Under Where? vs Essie Play Date. I thought these 2 would be a little closer than they are, Under Where? reminded me a lot of Play Date when I saw these in the store. I think it was just the crap lighting at Rite Aid because really they aren’t much alike at all. Play Date is quite a bit darker and not as pastel as Under Where? Formula wise Play Date is also like 1000 times better.

Overall I like this little 4 piece collection, In the Cab-ana and First Timer are the reason I bought these and they are just as pretty on the nail as in the bottle. Hope the comparisons were helpful also!

Essie’s Resort 2013 Collection is available now, I found mine at Rite Aid for $8 a bottle!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
