China Glaze Fall 2013 Autumn Nights Collection Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have the Fall 2013 Autumn Nights Collection from China Glaze to share with you! I haven’t really seen or heard much about this collection, I bought it without looking up swatches first so it was a surprise for me to see them all when they arrived in the mail. For Fall China Glaze is releasing 12 new shades that consist of 2 cremes, 4 foils, and 6 shimmers/touches of frost.

Check out all the swatches & reviews after the jump!

Charmed, I’m Sure is a dark purple creme. This was nice and vampy but not so dark that it looked black, you could tell it was purple in most lighting. The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and it applied easily. The opacity was also good, it was almost a 1 coater for me.

Don’t Make Me Wine is a magenta shimmer. This is pretty but it does lean a little bit towards being frosty. There were some visible brush strokes that I could see in person, they aren’t really translating into the photos. I do like how glowy this was though! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and super opaque.

Goldie but Goodie is a golden foil. I wasn’t so sure if I would like this, I’m not a huge lover of foil finishes but I quite like this one. The formula was really nice, it flowed nicely and the consistency was good. This was super opaque.

Gossip Over Gimlets is a silver foil. There are little bits of golden flakes in here but they are hard to see. I feel like I have about eleventy billion bottles of this kind of polish but this is a good one if you don’t haha! The formula was good, it was easy to apply and super opaque.

Kiss My Glass is a blue toned grey frost. The formula was alright, it was a little bit thick but easy to apply. My main issue is that it is SO brush stroke-y.

Public Relations is a purple toned grey frost. This is very similar to Kiss My Glass but just slightly more purple toned. I don’t really care for this either, for the same reason. The formula was a bit on the thick side but easy to apply.

Queen B is a blurple creme. This leaned a little bit more towards purple than my photos look but it does change depending on the light you’re in. The formula was great, it was the perfect consistency for what I look for in creme. It was also nice and opaque, nearly a 1 coater.

Red-y & Willing is a red shimmer. The formula was really nice on this one, it was easy to work with and very opaque.

Rendezvous With You is a dark purpley grey foil. This is my favorite of the foils, it’s an interesting shade of purple and one of the only polishes in the collection that I feel like I don’t have a ton of similar shades for. The formula was great, it was a breeze to apply and super opaque.

Scandalous Shenanigans is a bright blue frost. I’m a bit on the fence with this, I love the shade of blue and how it glows but I don’t like how frosty this is. The formula was a bit on the thick side but easy to apply, it was nice and opaque but prone to brush strokes showing.

Strike Up A Cosmo is a rosy pink foil with a golden shimmer. The formula was good, just like the other foils it was nice and opaque.

Tongue & Chic is a teal shimmer. I love the slight blackened base to this, it gives that effect of looking black around the edges of the nail which I like. The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and again, super opaque.

Overall I don’t really care for this collection, sorry China Glaze. I’m really not sure why they felt the need to do so many frosty shades, do people actually like those? The only really positive thing I have to say overall is that I’m impressed with how opaque all of these polishes were, almost all of them were 1 coaters which was great. If you like to stamp I think most of this collection would work really well for that. My picks are Tongue & Chic and Rendezvous With You.

The Autumn Nights Collection should be hitting store shelves in September, you can however already get them online. I bought mine at Transdesign.com!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
