KBShimmer Sand In My Stocking Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have my collaboration polish for KBShimmer’s Winter 2013 Blogger Collection to share with you! I’ll have the whole collection swatched and posted in the next couple of weeks also! My shade is called Sand In My Stocking and it was inspired by the beach. Specifically it was inspired by a snowman made of sand, because it doesn’t snow here ūüôĀ I was going for the look of taking the sandy snowman and putting all his colors in glitter form then stuffing it into a bottle…there are also some pops of blue glitter in here to represent the ocean! For this post a couple of my friends and I actually went to the beach and attempted to make a sandy snowman but we made the mistake of going to a cove beach and the tide started coming in so we were like OH NOES and rushed to finish him and yeahhhhh it was pretty pathetic but I’ll post it at the end of the post so you can have a good laugh at our fail haha!

Sand In My Stocking is not a typical holiday shade and it can really translate into any season depending on what you layer it with. It’s packed with small white, gold, tan, grey and brown glitter, larger gold hex and circle glitter, orange hex glitter, aqua blue circle glitter and gold holographic star glitter. The different colors/shapes of glitter all represent different things, like the white, gold, tan, grey & brown are the sand and seashells, the gold circles are sand dollars, the orange hex is the carrot nose and the aqua is the water! I think Christy managed to translate what I was imagining in my head perfectly, I love how complex and glitter dense this is. Formula wise this is very glitter packed so it can be a little thick however it’s easy to apply…no dabbing required. The stars are relatively easy to get out of the bottle, you don’t need to fish for them to get them onto the nail.

As promised here is our sandy snowman, we named him Frederick the fail man. Clearly we shouldn’t quit our day jobs and go into the business of snowman (or sandman) building. Even if the tide hadn’t started coming in and ruining our plans I’m not sure he would have looked very good lol. He kinda looks like he’s melting or something hahaha! For anyone wondering we didn’t go steal starfish from the tide pools to stick onto Frederick (I think that might actually be illegal in California), we bought them at the craft store so please don’t call PETA on me for starfish abuse ūüėÄ

Also, I wanted to include a couple photos I took when we went to build Frederick. This is Moss Street beach in Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is full of little cove beaches hidden in neighborhoods that you have to walk down like a billion stairs to get to. I like them because typically there is no one else there, which was the case when we went (thank god, no one witnessed the building of our fail man). These beaches are where I like to go to get away from the stress of my job, I always find it relaxing to sit and watch the waves. The little beaches like this in Laguna are where I love to go and why I wanted to have a polish inspired by them!

Hope you all like Sand In My Stocking! Big thank you to Christy and Jason of KBShimmer for the opportunity to be a part of the blogger collaboration collection. It was so fun seeing the polish in my head come to fruition! My polish, along with all the other beautiful polishes in the collection, will be available at KBShimmer.com on November 1st. For international ladies they will also be available at Harlow & Co on November 1st!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
