Saturday Spam: Formula X

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have a big old helping of spam for you, today’s brand is Formula X! Formula X is a relaunch of the Sephora X polishes Sephora put out last year. Along with the new name they redesigned the bottles and also made them a little bigger. I’m loving the redesign, mostly because my one complaint about the Sephora X polishes were that the caps didn’t come off and they were a pain to get to line up after using the polish…now the caps do come off!!

Formula X launched a couple weeks back online and in stores, the range is HUGE and includes everything from cremes to neons and indie-like glitters. I honestly don’t think I have ever been so excited about a new brand, I heard about these being in stores late September/early October a few months back so I saved up all my birthday money and went a bit nuts. I tried to get a little bit of  everything in terms of the finishes but I don’t have something from every one of the different lines…yet. I’ve actually bought more since I swatched everything for this post so expect another post sometime in the future.

Bionic is pastel lime green glitter and black glitter. I can’t help but be drawn to all of these, any kind of glitter mixed with black is something I will like unless the formula is crap. The formula of Bionic was great, it wasn’t thick but the glitter was super dense and easy to get onto the nail with good coverage.

Demolition is pastel lime, pastel blue and pastel peach matte glitter in a clear base. The peach glitter is looking a bit white in photos for some reason. This caught my eye because it kind of looks like something an indie brand would do. I really like the mix of glitter, it’s kind of Easter-y. The formula was again, really nice. The glitter payoff was great and it wasn’t thick.

Hocus Pocus is a subtle purple holo. There are a few other holographic shades in the Formula X range, I decided to get this one to see how strong the holo was before I decided if I needed the rest. Luckily for my bank account this is pretty meh…the holo is very week and the metallic nature of the base color makes it so you can’t even really see the weak holo that’s there. The formula was ok, it was nice and opaque but I did have some issues with it dragging if I went over a spot more than once.

Hyped is a neon purple with a strong blue shimmer. This is my favorite of this entire post and wouldn’t you know I actually scrolled right past it on the Sephora site because it looked boring, their color blobs do no justice to this polish. Once the big Formula X display got to the store near me and I saw it in person I was like holy moses get in my basket you beautiful gift from the Formula X gods. I just can’t even with this polish, it’s such a beautiful shade of purple and the shimmer just does me in. As soon as I put this on and realized how awesome it was I drove to Sephora and bought all the other neons with shimmer lol! The formula was great, it was nice and opaque…no streakyness etc.

Hyperactive is an iridescent shard glitter top coat. I actually thought this was flakies judging from the Sephora website so it’s a bit of a disappointment for me. I’m not a big fan of shard glitter so I’m not loving this one, if you do like shard glitter this is a good one for you. The formula was good, I didn’t have issues with the shards sticking up of the nail but this type of glitter is prone to that.

Lightening is a green jelly base loaded with gold holographic glitter. I picked this up because it sort of reminded me of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe but in green. In reality it’s very different but it’s the same idea. The formula was good, the glitter payoff was great! This was a little bit sheer but it built easily.

Mind Blowing is light yellow glitter in a clear base. This is just like Maniacal, unfortunately I don’t think there is a version of this one with black glitter though. The formula was great, it was easy to apply and super dense with glitter.

Overall I freaking LOVE Formula X, I’ve already bought more and I’m sure I will keep buying them. I am super impressed with the formulas of these and I love the glitters. Aside from that the wear time is great on all the ones I’ve worn for more than a day. I love how huge the range of colors and finishes are with the line, well done Sephora lol! Formula X can be found on Sephora.com and in Sephora stores, prices range from $10.50-$12.50 depending on the polish.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
