Cadillacquer Dexter Collection Swatches & Review

Published

on

Happy Weekend! Today I have a new to me indie to share with you called Cadillacquer! A few weeks back Llarowe sent me a few polishes to review and one of them was Cadillacquer The Dark Defender. While I was looking up that polish I realized it was part of a Dexter Collection and well…self control went out the window and I bought all the other polishes from the collection because it’s a Dexter Collection and I couldn’t resist.

Is anyone else completely bummed that the last episode EVER of Dexter is tomorrow night? Dexter is one of my favorite shows, I love the books too, so it makes me sad that its coming to an end. This season has been like the slowest build ever so I’m hoping that by the end of tomorrows episode my mind will just be blown and I’ll be like zomg what just happened while I sit in a corner rocking back and forth to console myself. If not, well then you will see me bitching about it on Twitter lol!

Anyway, back to Cadillacquer…Cadillacquer is an indie brand out of Switzerland. All of her polishes are inspired by TV shows, movies and songs etc… If I was an indie maker I’d probably be doing the same sort of things…and there would for sure be a Dexter Collection

Have A Killer Day is a grey base with neon pink square & hex glitter, matte purple glitter and a pretty blue shimmer. The formula was really nice, He Saw, She Saw is a beige crelly base with grey and iridescent glitter along with a subtle green shimmer. This is a surprise favorite for me, it’s just like the most perfect glitter filled nude polish in my opinion. It was flattering on my skin tone and I loved how subtle the glitter is.

It’s Going To Happen Again is a light blue crelly base with blue and white matter glitter along with a blue/green shimmer. The formula was a touch on the thick side but I had no issues with application and the opacity was great! I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Keep Breathing is a light teal base with purple glitter and flecks of white shimmer. The base of this leans a bit more towards green than it was photographing. I love the shimmer in this, it was really interesting looking in person and it gave the polish a nice bit of depth. The formula was good, it was easy to work with and the opacity was good.

The Dark Defender is green and purple flecks of glitter in a dark blue jelly base. You can see why this polish prompted me to buy the rest of the collection right? This is seriously beautiful, I loved the complexity of it

The End Begins is a deep green base with copper shimmer and golden glitter. My easy favorite of the collection for a multitude of reasons…mostly because this is very similar to the original concept of my piCture pOlish collaboration shade called¬†Mallard. Whats funny is that originally Mallard was going to be called “Darkly Dreaming” a la Dexter but then the piCture pOlish girls and I decided maybe that was a little too dark of a theme LOL. Anyway, happy dance because now I have a Dexter polish that was similar to what I had always envisioned my perfect Dexter-centric shade to be. ūüėÄ

Tonight’s The Night is a deep purple base with a very strong blue shimmer, holographic square glitter and small bits of holo glitter. I really like this one as well, I liked how the square glitter looked like it was just floating through the base. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and easy to apply.

Overall I pretty much love this collection, I really enjoy the glitter combos and the interesting shimmers to boot. I kinda feel bad for my bank account now that I’ve kind of fallen in love with this brand lol!

Cadillacquer is available at¬†cadillacquer.com, remember she is from Switzerland so if you live in the US like I do shipping can take a while. Luckily there are a few etailers you can shop with if you don’t want to wait for the postal service to take their sweet time delivering to you. The etailers that carry Cadillacquer are¬†Llarowe,¬†Harlow & Co,¬†Femme Fatale¬†and¬†Beauty So Fly

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
