KBShimmer Holiday 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Published

on

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend and Halloween! My weekend was great, I went and saw Gwen Stefani which was super fun! Today I have the Holiday 2016 Collection from KBShimmer to share with you! I also have their holiday promo items to share with you! Check out the swatches after the jump!

A Walk In The Park-A is an orchid creme. The formula was great, it was a really nice consistency with great opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Bling In The New Year is a silver holo and flake base packed with ultra chrome flakies. This one is a stunner, it is super sparkly in person and perfect for ringing in the new year…or just whenever! The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Chai-huahua is a brick red creme. This has a little bit more of a brown tone than my camera could pick up, its a nice change from the typical holiday kind of red. The formula was great, it was easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Get To The Poinsettia is a red holo. This is super saturated so the holo doesn’t show as great in photos as it does in person. The formula was great, it was smooth and easy to apply with great opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Haute Mess is a glitter packed with silver, copper, rose gold and holo sparkle. This can be worn on its own or over another polish. I prefer it as a topper, personally.  The formula was ok, it was a little chunky to apply but its so packed with glitter that it kind of has to be. I used 1 coat plus top coat over A Walk In The Park-A

Have A Look-ski is a teal blue holo. This has a nice smokiness to it that I really enjoy. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Ink Again is a brighter blue holo. Next to Have A Look-ski you can really see the difference in blues and the smokiness that this one doesn’t have. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Just Duvet It is a rich purple jelly shimmer with a pink flash and sprinkle of holo. The formula was good, though this is a jelly the opacity is good. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Ornamentally Flawless is a glitter packed with gold, fuchsia, blue, green and silver glitter in various sizes. This can be built up on its own or layered, I prefer it layered. The formula was ok, it was chunky but it has to be because of the amount of glitter. I used 1 coat for a black creme plus top coat for the photos below.

Royal To A Fault is a royal blue that shifts between violet and purple. The shift is nice and noticeable in this depending on the lighting, I noticed it was mostly the blue with purple along the edges on me in my normal office lighting. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. The first coat was a little patchy but it was evened out with the second coat. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Soot And Ladders is a black jelly loaded with multicolored shimmer. The formula was good, it is sheer so that the shimmer shines through but it builds up easily and is easy to apply. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Spruce Things Up is a green jelly loaded with holo and silver micro glitter. This is my favorite from the entire collection, the way it sparkles when the light hits is just gorgeous. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. It does dry with some texture from the micro glitter but nothing a coat of top coat can’t smooth out. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Take Me For Granite is a light grey crelly with black, white and silver glitter in various sizes. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good glitter payoff. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

The Holy Kale is a green holo with a blue flash of glass fleck glitter. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. It was on the sheer side so that the blue flash could come through but it built up easily. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Whiskey Business is a warm gold metallic with a subtle holo and silver flakes of glitter. If you are pale and pink toned like me this kind of gold looks good, I think the warmth of it makes it easier to wear. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Yeti Or Not is a pale grey with iridescent and holographic glitter. The formula was not my favorite, it was thick and can  be a little tricky to apply. It does with a lot of texture so you’ll need 2-3 coats of top coat to completely smooth it out. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Below are the promo offers that will be available when you purchase the Holiday collection. You can also buy these on their own if you want an extra or aren’t spending enough to get them as a gift with purchase! These will be available from 11/1/16 to 12/31/16 or as long as supplies last.

First up is a holographic makeup bag. This bag is awesome! Its super holo and is a nice quality. It has the KBShimmer logo in the lining and is a great size for traveling with polish or throwing in your purse to keep organized. Mine is currently in my purse, I’ve been using it to hold nail stuff I like to carry around with me. This is $12.95 on its own or you can get it for free with a $75 purchase.

The other 2 items available for the holiday are a mini nail file and a small nail polish charm. The charm is super cute, its got KBShimmer’s flower logo on it, I’ve got mine on my keys. The mini nail file is a crystal file and etched so its not going to lose its grit. The charm is $2.95 on its own and free with the $25 purchase. The crystal nail file is $4.95 on its own or free with a $50 purchase.

To break it down you get the charm for free with a $25 purchase. You get the charm and nail file for free with a $50 purchase. Last you get the holo bag, charm and nail file free with a $75 purchase.

The Holiday Collection from KBShimmer is available now at www.KBShimmer.com, polishes retail for $9.25

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
