China Glaze Halloween 2013 Monsters Ball Collection Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have the Monsters Ball Collection for Halloween from China Glaze for ya! I’ve been eagerly waiting for this collection, China Glaze usually does really great Halloween Collections so I had high hopes. I had been hearing that people were finding these at Ulta and after going by all the Ulta’s in my area I couldn’t find them so I ordered them online (clearly I lack any kind of patience, I went by Ulta last night and they have them now lol). I wish you all could have seen my excitement when they arrived, it was like one of those videos of a child ripping open a Christmas present except instead of wrapping paper flying everywhere it was bubble wrap haha!

This years collection is 6 polishes strong, I only got 5 because the 6h is their Ghoulish Glow polish that I’m pretty sure they re-promote every year and I already own it. I don’t really care for Ghoulish Glow so I didn’t need or want another bottle. Anyway, the other 5 polishes are really pretty, there are a few really nice glitters and a new Texture polish. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Bat My Eyes is a black jelly that is absolutely packed with different sizes of gold glitter. There are also bits of orange and gold bar glitter in here but I couldn’t see them in person…you can see them a tiny bit in my shade photo thanks to the macro mode on my camera. The formula was ok, it was a bit on the thick side and because of the dense glitter application can be tricky. My best advice is to apply it slowly so you get good coverage and the glitter doesn’t all clump together. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Boo-gie Down is black, white and copper glitter in a clear base. There is everything from bar glitter to micro glitter to big hex glitter in here. I really like the mix of glitter and it looked nice on the nail (lets face it, I was a little worried because this reminded of Whirled Away and that polish was a mess.). The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over Contrary Polish The Plaza for the photos below.

Bump In The Night is a black texture polish. I have to say I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous Texture polishes from China Glaze, I prefer the more sparkly textures, but I really like this one. This feels perfect for Halloween, I liked how it still had a little bit of shine to it even after drying down for a couple of hours. The formula was good, it was a little bit thick but I had no application issues. The opacity was fantastic, this could easily be a 1 coater, I used 2 coats just to get more texture!

Fang-tastic is a mix of blue, fuchsia and green glitter in a clear base. I actually thought this was called Fang-tasia at first glance and I was like lulz a True Blood polish…then I realized it wasn’t called that 🙁 This doesn’t feel like a very Halloween-ish mix of glitter but I like it. The formula was good, it wasn’t thick, the glitter payoff was fantastic. I used 1 coat over Maya Cosmetics Silver Lining for the photos below.

Howl You Doin’ is a deep purple crelly base with blue glitter and shards of coppery-orange glitter. I really like this one, it reminds me a bit of OPI Merry Midnight (not a dupe but similar, you can see a comparison on Polish Insomniac here). The formula was good, a bit thick but it gave me no issues while applying it. I did find the base to be a little uneven but it was fine after the second coat. This also dried a bit dull, my photos are with top coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I really like this collection, it didn’t disappoint me which is always a good thing! My personal favorites are Howl You Doin’ and Boo-gie Down!

The Monsters Ball Collection is available now, you can find them at Ulta and Sally Beauty (not sure if they are in store at Sally’s yet but they are online). I bought mine from 8ty8beauty.com!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
