China Glaze Spring 2015 Road Trip Collection Swatches & Review

Published

on

Dashboard Dreamer is a very light blue with a pinky orange shimmer throughout. This kind of reminds me of Sinful Colors Cinderella but much more opaque. I do wish the shimmer was a little more obvious but when it peeks out its gorgeous. The formula was a little difficult, it was patchy and streaky so patience is needed with application.

I Brake For Color is a coral creme. This is right in the middle of orange and red and didn’t lean too much in either direction. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with nice opacity.

License & Registration Pls is a blue creme. This is a nice medium blue, its a little bright but not too crazy. The formula was alright, it was a bit sheer at first but built up to full opacity in 2 coats. I really like this color but it seriously refused to dry on me. This was the polish I swatched last so I could wear it and when I woke up the next morning (with a good 10 hours between application and going to bed) I woke up with sheet marks. What the heck!

More To Explore is a peach creme. This is one of my favorites of the collection, I always forget how much I enjoy peach polish until a new one comes out and I’m like YAS! The formula was a bit on the thick side and streaky on the first coat, It did level itself nicely though.

My Way Or The Highway is a teal creme. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with nice opacity, it also looks a little squishy once its on so that was nice. I did not experience any staining with this but I would recommend 2 coats of base coat just in case.

Pack Lightly is a light pink toned peach with a very subtle golden shimmer. This is a bit lighter and more pink than More To Explore. This one was a disappointment for me, the shimmer was so pretty in the bottle but it just does not translate on the nail no matter what lighting I tried to see itin. The formula was ok, it was streaky but more opaque than I expected.

Pinking Out The Window is a medium pink creme. This is one of those pinks I don’t think I’ll like but then once its on the nail I end up loving it because its such a flattering shade. The formula was good, I had no application issues and the opacity was nice.

Pop The Trunk is a bright orange creme. This is very bright but nowhere near being neon. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with good opacity.

Sun’s Up Top Down is a sunny yellow with yellow shimmer. The shimmer is pretty hidden in this polish also but it does come out a bit out in the sun. The formula was on the thick side, there was some minor streakyness but not as bad as a lot of yellows can be.

Trip Of A Lime Time is a yellow toned green creme. This gives me pea soup vibes haha! The formula was ok, it was a nice consistency but on the streaky side.

Wanderlust is a light lavender toned pink with golden shimmer. The shimmer in this one is also on the hidden side ūüôĀ The formula was ok, it was a nice consistency but streaky.

Overall I like the collection but the shimmers were a bit disappointing since most didn’t translate very well to the nail. My picks from the collection are Pinking Out The Window, More To Explore and Dashboard Dream (even though I wish the shimmer was better!)

The China Glaze Road Trip Collection is available now, I’ve already seen it on the shelves at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable ūüôĀ Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.¬† The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my¬†Indie spam¬†post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with¬†Tartofraises¬†somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog¬†here.¬† The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of¬†The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.¬† If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog¬†here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with¬†Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post¬†here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
