KBShimmer Winter 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I finally have KBShimmer’s Winter 2015 Collection to share with you! This collection is made up of 12 polishes and also includes a 13th polish that is this years Toys For Tots polish! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Brrr-tiful Dreamer is a greyed out purple crelly with aqua, silver, fuchsia and purple glitter. The formula was good, the consistency was good and you get nice glitter payoff. It was easy to apply and the opacity was also nice. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Chilly Pepper is a red creme. This is a really nice true red, perfect for the holidays! The formula was fantastic, it was a great consistency and applied smoothly and with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Claws and Effect is a navy blue holo. This also had some subtle blue/pink glass flecks in it but I couldn’t seem to capture them in photos. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Coal In One is a dark grey holo. The holo in this polish is insane…I was like whoa when I stepped out in the sun with this one on! The formula was great, easy to apply and good coverage. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

For Fox Sake is an orange creme. I really like this one, its an interesting shade of orange. I wore this one as a full mani paired with KBShimmer’s Foxy Winter Water Slide Decals. These 2 pair together perfectly! The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

How Corn-y is a creamy light yellow crelly with burgundy, gold, orange and red glitter. This is one I wasn’t sure about in the bottle because the color combo is a little odd but I ended up really liking it on the nail. Everything works together nicely. Its not a shade everyone will love, but I do! The formula was good, it was sheer at first but it built easily. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Kind of a Big Dill is a dark green jelly loaded with small and micro silver holographic glitter. Not only is this my kinda green but the name is kind of awesome haha! The formula was good, it was a bit sheer but easy to build. It applied easily and was opaque in 3 coats. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Oh Holo Night is a glitter topper with blue and silver holographic star glitter, silver and blue small hex glitter and a dusting of holo shimmer. The formula was ok, you have a fish a little bit for the stars but they are plentiful and easy to grab. Its easiest to dab this one on so you get the glitter where you want it. I used 1 coat plus top coat over Chilly Pepper for the photos below.

Owl Miss You is a beige crelly with copper shimmer and tiny golden flakes of glitter.  This is overall my favorite of the collection, its a gorgeous neutral with a bit of something extra and special. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and applied nicely. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

sELFie is a glitter bomb packed with green, red, blue and gold glitter. There may be other colors in there also! This can be used as a topper if you use a very thin coat or you can wear it on its own pretty easily. The formula was good on its own, its a little thick because of how dense the glitter is but I had no issues applying it and the glitter payoff was fantastic. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below. Both photos are in the shade.

Smoke Signal is a light grey crelly with  orange, aqua and red glitter in various sizes. This is another favorite of the collection for me, its a great color combo! The formula was good, it was a touch sheer at first but it built easily. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Toying Around is a multicolored glitter topper in a clear base. This not only has a ton of colors but also a lot of shapes of glitter, there are hex glitters, squares, triangles and circles in here. This polish is KBShimmer’s 2015 Toys for Tots polish. $4 from each bottle of this polish sold is donated to Toys for Tots! The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and the glitter payoff was great! I used 1 coat plus top coat over Dollish Polish This Is My Home, I Have To Defend It! for the photos below.

Yule Worthy is a warm burgundy leaning chocolate brown with tiny metallic micro flakes of glitter. On me this tends to look purple most of the time but I’m guessing it may lean more brown depending on your skin tone. The formula was great, it was easy to apply and the opacity was fantastic. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

The KBShimmer Winter 2015 Collection is available now at KBShimmer.com and at Harlow & Co. There is 1 more shade in this collection called Fleece Navidad that I don’t have, you can see it here!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
