Orly Summer 2014 Baked Collection Swatches & Review

Published

on

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was nice, I didn’t do anything too exciting….my family doesn’t really celebrate Easter so I just hung out at home and then took Degen to get a new harness since the one he’s had for a while was too big!
Today I have the Orly Summer 2014 Collection called Baked to share with you. I haven’t really seen too much about these but I spotted them at my local beauty supply when I stopped by on Saturday to get polish remover. It’s been a while since anything from Orly has really interested me but these caught my eye. All 6 polishes in this collection are gorgeous and super bright. I’ve been a fan of the neons that Orly has previously put out so I had to pick these up when I saw the display.

Ablaze is an orange leaning coral neon with a golden shimmer. In the bottle, I didn’t think the shimmer would shine through very much but I was happily surprised that once it was on the nail it was visible. It can be a little hidden due to how bright the base is but I could see it at the right angle. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was great. This did dry matte, Hot Tropics is a pink toned purple neon with a strong silvery shimmer. The shimmer is very visible in this one, not hidden at all! The formula was good, it was a good consistency and the opacity was really nice.

Lush is a sheer neon yellow base with small glitter and long bar glitter. In the bottle this looked green so I was pretty surprised to have it actually be yellow once I got it on the nail. I have to say…I kind of hate this, sorry Orly. Maybe layered over the right base it would be ok but clearly white isn’t doing it any favors. The formula was not great, it was super gooey, I needed to dump quite a bit of thinner into it to make it apply easily. This is sheer, I think that you’d need quite a few coats to get it opaque on it’s own and given the difficult and gummy formula that isn’t going to be easy. I also had some issues with the bar glitter curling up and sticking up off the nail.

Neon Heat is a bright neon pink. Not the most unique polish but its a great bright pink if you feel your collection is missing something like that. The formula was great, it was a good consistency and I had no issues with streaking. It was nice and opaque on it’s own, no need for undies.

Saturated is a dark but also bright super saturated purple. Be still my heart! This is the polish that caught my eye in the display. I am a big sucker for gorgeous purples like this and it was definitely love at first sight. I like how this is a nice rich dark purple but it’s also nice and bright at the same time. The formula was good, it can be a little patchy on the first coat if you aren’t careful but it was completely covered by the 2nd coat.

Tropical Pop is a neon yellow toned orange. This is another that doesn’t feel unique but it’s bright and pretty awesome so it would be a good addition to someones collection if you didn’t have something similar. The formula was great, it was easy to apply and not streaky. The opacity as great, no need for undies.

Overall I really like this collection, with the exception of Lush. My picks would be Ablaze, Hot Tropics and Saturated. Tropical Pop and Neon Heat are also great if you don’t already have a dupe!

I’m not sure if this collection has hit the shelves at stores like Ulta and Sally Beauty yet, but you can get them online at OrlyBeauty.com!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

To see lots of glittery goodness click the Read More button below!

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
