Zoya Fall 2013 PixieDust Collection Swatches

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have the newest PixieDust Collection from Zoya to share with you. For Fall this year Zoya is giving us 6 more of their awesome textured polishes. I, of course, was very excited about these because I adore the PixieDust polishes, they are some of my favorite textures. I really love the color palette of this collection also, it’s very jewel toned and right up my alley!

I will be doing comparisons for these as soon as I get a chance in case you’re wondering 🙂 Check out all the swatches after the jump!

For all the photos in this post with top coat I used CND Air Dry. I really like that top coat but it doesn’t work well with these so I wouldn’t recommend it over textures. It made them feel smooth to the touch but they didn’t look glassy…you can see what I mean in the post 🙂

Arabella is a rich fuchsia with hints of silver. I feel like this one doesn’t photograph as pretty as it was in person, definitely one of my favorites of the bunch. I love how rich this polish looked on the nail! The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and it was very opaque. You could easily get away with 1 coat, I did 2 just to get more texture.

Carter is a royal purple with hints of pink sparkle. From the promos this is the polish I was most excited about in this collection…dat purple!! Happy to say that this did not disappoint at all in person, the shade of purple is gorgeous and the pink bits of sparkle just take it to another level. The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and it was easy to apply.

Chita is a forest green with a gold sparkle. Clearly Zoya messed up with the naming of this one, it should definitely be called Jen because if I could make my own texture it would most certainly be this kind of green haha! The formula was on the thick side, it was the only one I had issues with in the collection, I found it a little tricky to apply because of the thickness but it’s nothing a little thinner couldn’t fix for next time. This was crazy opaque, easily a 1 coater. I used 2 coats for maximum textured goodness!

Dhara is a red orange with a golden sparkle. I do like this one but I’m kind of tiring of orange textures…maybe that’s just me though. The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and application was a breeze.

Sunshine is a navy blue with silver sparkle. Next to Chita I feel like this is a textured color I’ve been waiting for and it doesn’t disappoint at all. It’s almost a denim blue and it just looks so perfect matte! The formula was good, it was a little thick but not too bad and application was easy. This was super opaque and could also be a 1 coater, I did 2 coats for my photos.

Tomoko is a champagne shade. There is a pretty even mix of gold and silver in it that gives it that champagne look overall. The formula was good on this one, it wasn’t thick at all. This was a touch on the sheer side but it built up easily. I used 3 coats for full opacity, if you have shorter nails than I do 2 coats would probably work just fine for you!

Overall I really like the collection, surprise surprise haha! My overall favorites are Chita, Sunshine and Carter but seriously…I really do like them all (what can I say I love the texture trend)
The Fall 2013 PixieDust Collection is available now at Zoya.com, each polish retails for $9!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
