The PolishAholic: Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat: Fuschia Shock!

Good Morning guys…forgive me if this is short on words. I’m pretty much a zombie this morning on top of still not feeling good ūüôĀ

¬†Today I have for you guys one of the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat polishes! Sally Hansen is putting out 8 shades of crackle polish, they are supposed to hit stores in June but I’ve seen on a few blogs/twitter that people have already spotted the display at Walgreens!

Furschia Shock is the pink of the Sally Hansen Crackles, looks a lot like China Glaze Broken Hearted but it is SO much better. I didn’t have any issues with getting this one to crack the way I would like it to unlike the China Glaze of the same color…which makes me very happy because I like pink crackle! The formula was much like all the other crackle polishes that have been coming out lately and it cracked well using both a thick and thin coat!

Strange enough, this seems to crack/shatter better over a top coat…you can see it in my last photo below. Not sure why that makes a difference but I personally like it better that way!

Over Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like

Over Sally Hansen Summer Plum

Over Urban Decay Cult. In this picture I used a very thin coat for the index and middle finger and a thicker coat for the ring and pinky finger…you can see how they crack a little bit differently that way!

China Glaze Crackle Metals Collection Swatches!

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you guys the Crackle Metals from China Glaze! I know I know, more crack/shatter/blasted/fractured/whatever. I have to say, even though I’m kinda getting over crackle polish I was pretty excited for these ones, a few of them are ones no one else has given us yet. ¬†I’m pretty impressed with these crackles, if you remember back to my post of the original set of crackles China Glaze put out you might remember that I didn’t love them. A few of them hardly cracked and they were a bit hard to work with. Good news, these are much better! I didn’t have any huge issues with these cracking, a few were a little bit tricky but overall I like them!

For consistency I layered all of these crackles over OPI Black Onyx! I used a medium coat of the crackle polishes for all of these swatched, thick coats of crackle didn’t work out to hot for me.

Cracked Medallion is a copper/bronze. I would call it the color of a penny. Love this one…the color is gorgeous!

Haute Metal is a pale pink metallic. I didn’t think I would like this but over black it was awesome!

Latticed Lilac is a pale lavender. I thought I would actually like this one more. The purple was a little bit too pale for me. Over black it didn’t really look purple, perhaps the purple will come out more over other shades!

Tarnished Gold is a gorgeous honey gold! Love it! I’ve been wanting a gold crackle polish so badly! I tried the Sally Hansen gold and wasn’t too impressed with it so I was pretty happy that Tarnished Gold worked out better for me!

Oxidized Aqua is a light blue. By far my favorite of the collection! I can’t wait to layer this one over more colors!

Platinum Pieces is the silver crackle! I’ve gotta say, I think that OPI Silver Shatter cracks a little better than Platinum Pieces, but maybe I just need to play with this one more.

¬†These should be in stores sometime this month, but I don’t have an exact date!

Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2011 Swatches!

Good Morning guys!¬† Hope you had a good weekend! Personally I’m more looking forward to this coming up weekend and next week…I have fun plans! Yesterday I reorganized my polish…again. The whole having it by color thing that I switched to a couple months ago just wasn’t working for me, so I put it back to being sorted by brand. Somehow all the polish that fit before now doesn’t fit…not sure how that happened. Guess I’ll be making a trip to Ikea soon to get another Helmer eek!

Today I have for you guys the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2011 Collection. I know we were all excited for this collection last year, I shudder thinking back at all the stores I went to searching for Hidden Treasure lol! This year the collection consists of a good mix of soft shades, a hot vampy shade and a few bright shades!

First up! Delphinium is a  kind of dusty lavender. I feel like we have seen this shade a lot this year but not this dark, everyone else seems to be doing lighter more lilac versions of it. The formula was great, I used 2 coats for full opacity!

Eel Skin is light medium grey creme. The name of this gives me the heebie-jeebies, eels freak me out. I think one must have traumatized me at a child visiting Sea World lol! I feel like we’ve seen a lot of this color this season also. Not sure if it’s dupey to anything that has come out…but I will look through my stash and see! Great formula on this one again, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Barracuda is a bright ice blue shade, my personal favorite of the collection. I adore shades like this, the ones that make my ghostly skin look tan. I’m sporting this beauty on my toes right now! The formula was a bit tricky, it went on streaky but evened out at 3 coats.

Coral Fever is an orangey red coral. I love corals since they usually love me back, this is no exception! When I first got this I thought it might be close to Deborah Lippmann’s Girls Just Want To Have Fun but no such luck, 2 very different shades of coral. I used 2 coats on most nails for full opacity but some required 3 coats to even it out.

First Kiss is an almost dusty bubblegum pink. I’ve been trying to figure out how to describe this color and that’s the best I’ve got! Normally not a color I’d be drawn to but I really loved it once I got it on. The formula was a bit streaky I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Malt is a dark tan polish. I thought this would be my favorite since I love me a good neutral but it’s doing weird things with my skin tone. I do love the color, I just wish it worked better on me! I used 2 coats of Malt for the photos below.

Summer Plum a vampy dark plum. I LOVE THIS POLISH lol….I forget how much I love dark vampy colors like this until I put one on after wearing softer shades for a while. This polish is perfection, the color and formula were just great! I used 2 coats of Summer Plum for the photos below.

Lastly, Sally Hansen is introducing a new design of Salon Effects with this collection called Wicked Bamboo! I haven’t worn these yet, but I wanted to show you what they look like anyway! I really like this design, it’s simple but something I personally couldn’t do as nail art. Anything that requires me to draw a straight line is pretty much not going to happen.

This collection will be on shelves in May, I haven’t seen it at any of my local drugstores yet…so hopefully it should start popping up soon! The polishes retail for $6.99 each and the Salon Effects retail for $9.95¬†

The PolishAholic: Essence Studio Nails: Drama Queen

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you guys one of the Essence Studio Nail designs. These just recently started showing up at Ulta’s around here.¬†

Before I get to talking about them I have to rant for a moment about the horrendous Ulta cashier that checked me out when I bought these. I was at the register buying these (and all the other Studio Nails from Essence) along with a Nail Fraud package that was on clearance. The girl comments on the Essence stuff and I say how I’m excited to find them, they are so cheap blah blah blah. Then the girl goes into a big old speech about nail decals are HORRIBLE for your nails and how it destroys your natural nail when you remove them. My, I’m standing there with a horrified look on my face going o.O. Just to clear up any confusion about decals like these ones from Essence, Nail Fraud, Sally Hansen etc… they do not damage your nails when you take them off, unless perhaps you are not taking them off correctly. I kind of wanted to smack that stupid girl at Ulta for spreading lies like that. If you’re going to go on a rampage about how awful something is at least do some research and see if there is any truth to what you are telling people./rant

So back to what’s today’s post is actually about lol! These Essence Studio Nails just landed at Ulta, they retail for $2.50 each¬† and there are 6 designs to choose from. The design I have for you today is called Drama Queen. It’s colorful, I like it! I did have a few issues with these. I had trouble getting them to smooth out, no matter how much I tried I could not get rid of some of the wrinkles and bubbles ūüôĀ You can see my issues in the pictures. Despite that I really do like these, especially for the price! I should mention though that if you have large (wide) nail beds these might not work for you. There were 2 options for the thumb and both were too small for my nail bed (and I have small nail beds!)

Also, in case you haven’t seen this on another blog yet…Zoya has a brand new collection out for pre-order today! The Touch Collection, consists of 3 nude shades with a slight shimmer! I can’t wait to get my hands on these!

Essie 2011 Fair Game Resort Collection Swatches

Good Morning guys, back to the grind for most of us I’m guessing. It is for me…ugh! At least it’s a short week!¬†

Today I have for you guys Essie’s Resort Collection for 2011 called the Fair Game collection. I’m guessing from the names that it’s an African Safari theme! I was stalking my Ulta for this but ended up finding/buying it at a local independent beauty supply. I have heard of some people seeing it at Ulta recently though!

First up is Da Bush a light murky sage green. Love this one, are we surprised? nope! Very reminiscent of Stranger Tides from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection from OPI, I will have a comparison of the 2 later this week! The formula was pretty good on this one, I used 2 coats on most nails but some needed 3 coats to even everything out!

Lion Around is a light pink, kind of a dusty rose color with a silver pearly shimmer running throughout. I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Sometimes I would look down at my hands and go WOW I really love this because the shade of pink was very flattering on my skintone…then other times I would look down and see something verging on a frost and was like ick. On a very positive note, I really liked the formula on this, I used 2 coats and it dried really quickly! Sometimes I have problems with Essie drying on me so that was a nice change!

Fair Game is a gunmetal gray with a multicolored shimmer. I have to say, I don’t really care for this one. It leans a little too frosty for me. The color and shimmer are pretty but it just doesn’t do it for me. The formula was great again, I used 2 coats and like Lion Around it dried really quickly!

Your Hut Or Mine *swoon* this polish is so fab, I love it! It’s a kind of dusty dark pink with a beautiful shimmer. Easily my favorite of this collection, I don’t have anything like it in my collection! If someone had told me last year that a collection would come out and the pink in it would be my favorite I would have died laughing…but here it is folks, it’s happened haha! I was trying so hard to get that pretty shimmer to photograph but it’s not coming out as amazing as it looks in real life, if you click on the pictures you can see it better! Great formula again, I used 2 coats for full opacity!

The PolishAholic: Deborah Lippmann Naked

Good Morning guys! Anyone watch American Idol last night? I sure did not, once Haley went I lost interest. I liked Hayley, if she ever puts out and album I’d buy it! Instead of watching AI, I went to Lush last night. I was picking up some stuff I was out of plus a few goodies for July/August when I’m heading over to Vegas for Cosmoprof (eeek I am SO excited to get to go this year!)! Can I just say that I LOVE going into the Lush store near me, the girls that work there rule, they are so nice and¬†knowledgeable¬†about the products. It’s such a nice change since usually everywhere employs people that are the exact opposite of how it is at Lush lol! For the first time ever I picked up a couple of the fresh face masks, last time I posted a Lush haul a few people¬†recommended¬†them! I was putting the Cupcake face mask into the fridge when Degen literally tried to tackle me to the ground to eat it, he didn’t get it but it was funny!

Today I have for you guys Naked from Deborah Lippmann, this polish came out earlier this year for Spring. I finally bought it a few weeks ago, you know me…always on the hunt for the perfect nude polish. This doesn’t give me mannequin hands but I sure do love it. It looks so clean, it’s like the perfect¬†palette¬†cleanser. The formula was great, the polish was a little sheer but I believe it’s supposed to be like that. Even being a little sheer I only needed 3 coats for full opacity! For a nude polish this is pretty pricey but it’s nice to splurge once in a while, I don’t regret buying this one!

sorry for the weird picture, I kept catching shadows on my nails and this was the loner keeper of all my photos
