The PolishAholic: OPI Movin’ Out

Good Morning!  It’s Friday…yay! Anyone watch the royal wedding? I sure did not watch it…I was asleep. Luckily American media likes to run things into the ground so I saw parts of it replayed on the news about 15 times in the 10 minutes I watched before I went to work this morning.

Today I have for you guys an older OPI called Movin’ Out, this came out prior to OPI being Big 3 Free…man nail polish ruled back then. It seems like when we lost all the chemicals we also lost all the amazing multichromes. I recently bought this on ebay, it was surprisingly very cheap! Movin’ Out is very sheer on it’s own, probably best to layer it. I was going to try it over black (which I still have on my list to do) but instead I decided to put it over the dark purple I already had on. I think over black the multichrome will pop a bit more!

I used 1 coat  of OPI Movin’ Out over Butter London Marrow for the photos below.

The PolishAholic: Nfu Oh 61

Good Morning!  I am SO excited about what I have for you guys today. This was on my wishlist FOREVER. Nfu Oh 61, ahhhh! I thought I would never own this, it was sold out for months on

I love nail polish.

, I had given up hope. Then it came back in stock and I snatched one up, woohoo! I think it’s already sold out again though, which is a shame…blame the jerks who buy multiple bottles with the intention of selling them on ebay for lots of money (I have a strong dislike for people like that).

I saw a comparison on Make Up Alley a couple weeks ago between this new batch of 61 and a bottle the person bought a year ago and it seems to be a little less holo but damn…it’s still awesome! When I bought 61 I also picked up 51 (!!!) and the Aqua base coat. It does seem like the Aqua base helped with application. I’m going to need to try it again with a holo I’ve used before not with an Aqua base to see if it really does make a difference. I used 2 coats of Nfu Oh 61 for the photos below.

The PolishAholic: China Glaze Virtual Violet

Good Morning! I’m getting such a late start this morning, I woke up at like 9:30, which is pretty late for me! Luckily it doesn’t matter too much since my only plans are taking Degen to the park lol

Today I have for you guys China Glaze Virtual Violet, a purple with scattered holo glitter. This comes from the Tronica collection that is exclusive to Sally Beauty. This seems to be the most holo out of any that I picked up. I’m pretty disappointed by this collection to be honest. I feel like China Glaze was all yay holo then I actually got them and I need a microscope to actually see this holo they speak of. That said, it is very pretty….I probably wouldn’t have been disappointed if this collection hadn’t been so hyped as being holo. The formula was great on this, so was the wear. I had this on last week for about 3 days and didn’t have any chipping and hardly any tip wear!

Below is 2 coats of Virtual Violet!

The PolishAholic: Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude

Hi guys! Another quick post today for you, wanted to get this up to let you know about a great sale!

Cult Nails is having an awesome 4th of July sale, all of their polishes are $7.40 this weekend only. That is a GREAT price. Unfortunately the gorgeous polish I’m showing you below is sold out, but no worries it will be back soon!

Cruisin’ Nude is an amazing beige nude polish with a pink shimmer! I was in the middle of swatching a whole bunch of polishes when I put this one on. I was not happy to have to take it off so it went right back on when I was done swatching for the day! The formula is awesome, almost a 1 coater for me! I used 2 coats of Cruisin’ Nude for the photos below.

Cult Nails polishes can be bought on their official website CultNails.com, they retail for $10 each!

The PolishAholic: Nail Fraud: Disco

Good Morning guys! Almost Friday wooo! I’m off work tomorrow, I think so I’m extra excited. I say I think because I pretty much have not been at work at all this week due to whatever weird sickness I have come down with so we’ll see if I end up going in to make up for that or not. Tonight I’m going to LA to see Bayside again! I’m pretty much stoked…also hoping to see some random celebrities. Since it’s a Thursday my chances might be good lol

So this is what I’m wearing on my nails for tonight. I picked these up a little bit ago at Ulta…they were in the clearance section. So what are they? They are decals from a company called Nail Fraud…this design is called Disco. I am in LOVE with this design…I can’t stop staring at my nails! My only complaint….it was not easy to get off the excess strip. Maybe I’m spoiled by the Sally Hansen Salon Effects but on these it felt like that free edge did not want to come off…and when it did it was all jagged and pokey. I’m probably going to go back to Ulta and see if I can find any more of these…in my opinion they are so cute that the extra bit of work was worth it! In terms of awesomeness these are slightly below the Sally Hansen Salon Effects but waaaaaay above those Art Club decal nightmares.

The PolishAholic: Sally Hansen- Gentle Blossom

Good Mornin’! 1 more day left of work till a glorious  3 days weekend, I can’t wait! The rain here is back today, ugh. I love some rain but I’ve had enough…I guess I should just be glad I don’t live somewhere that gets mudslides. On Christmas we went down to my Aunt’s house in San Clemente and you could see where a river of mud went down their street. I guess it was so bad that it was even inside their van, ew!

Today I have for you guys Sally Hansen Gentle Blossom. This comes from a brand new display popping up at drug stores for a new line from SH called “Nail Growth Miracle”. Most of the colors were pretty boring but this one caught my attention. I thought Gentle Blossom would be a little more minty green, but it pulls pretty blue on me. Reminds me of BB Couture- Manbug, just with shimmer instead of glitter. The silver-ish shimmer in this polish came through really well, I worried that it might be one of those hidden shimmers but it peeks through really strongly! I really like this polish, should SH come out with more colors for this new line that interest me I’ll definitely be picking them up!

This is 2 coats of Sally Hansen- Gentle Blossom

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Wicked Bamboo

Good Morning guys! Happy Friday!!! I’m gonna need this next week to go fast because I’m going to Vegas next Friday woooo! We’re just going for a night, a short and sweet trip, but sometimes that’s all the Vegas I need….especially since I’ll be in Vegas again in a little over a month for Cosmoprof!

Today I have for you guys one of the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects designs called Wicked Bamboo. You have probably seen these in stores by now, I know I have. I’ve seen the new display all over the place…even Ulta which seems to be the last ones to ever put them out. This design is part of the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen collection for Spring. I’m not sure if the other new Salon Effects designs are too, I just know this one for sure is! Wicked Bamboo is supposed to look like a bamboo floor, and well mission accomplished I think! I did have some problems applying some of these crooked and then not being able to fix it without ruing the decal but I think I can only blame myself for that…not the product! Overall I really like these ones, they are simple…I actually got more compliments on this design when I wore them than I have with any other kind of decals I’ve worn! Also, not sure why my hands are so lobster-y in these photos it wasn’t in real life lol!

Misa Blueberry Glaze + CND Crimson Sparkle

Good Morning! Happy Presidents Day for those of you that live in the US, maybe you are lucky (unlike me) and have today off from work!

Today I have for you guys a HTF polish, I sometimes don’t like posting HTF’s because I feel bad if you guys love them then can only find them for a bazillion dollars on ebay. Misa Blueberry Glaze is to die for, it’s a navy blue with tons of shimmer! Love it! The formula is a bit thin but the build up is beautiful!

This is 3 coats of Misa Blueberry Glaze

Now, I got a bit bored of that, I know…what the heck is wrong with me. I had a CND effect that I picked up recently that I was dying to use so I decided to put it over Blueberry Glaze. And the result was OMG. The effect I used is Crimson Sparkle, my camera fails at picturing it in the sun…so just imagine a slightly more blue version of Milani Totally Cool and that is what it looked like in real life. As much as I liked the combo in the sun it was AMAZING in the shade, seriously whoa! Crimson  Sparkle turned into a duochrome! yay! I love duochromes! It went from pink to a kind of orangey-gold. I love CND effects!

Below is Misa Blueberry Glaze topped with 1 coat of CND Crimson Sparkle effect

Deborah Lippman Happy Birthday vs. Ulta Pinata-Yada-Yada

Good Morning! Happy Monday!

A while back in one of Ulta’s mailers there was a picture of a new Salon Formula polish they had that immediately looked like it might be dupey to Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday polish. Ever since I saw that mailer I’ve been waiting for my Ulta to start stocking the polish. They finally did so I grabbed a bottle the other day! In the bottle they look similar but very different color wise. The Ulta polish, which is called Pinanta- Yada-Yada looked to be a bit brighter than Happy Birthday. On the nail they are much more similar looking! The formula was also very similar, I guess how much can that really differ though when we are talking about glitter in a clear base lol.

The main difference here is that Happy Birthday has small square glitter and Pinata-Yada-Yada has small hex glitter. Other than that no huge differences. If you have an Ulta near you this is a great alternative and it’s much cheaper. Right now Ulta has a sale on their Salon Formula polishes going on, 2 for $4! Not sure when that ends but if you pick this up during the sale it’s really a great deal!

Below is 2 coats of Ulta Pinata-Yada-Yada and 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday over Nubar White Peony.
