Zoya Winter 2011 Feel Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good morning guys! Another day, another collection….at least that’s what it feel like around here lately! Today I have the Zoya Feel Collection for Winter, it’s 6 gorgeous soft creme polishes. I was a bit on the fence with this collection until I got them and swatched them. I have such a soft spot for shades like this, they are muted enough to be appropriate for work and they are flattering on a variety of skin tones.

very is a creamy yellow toned beige shade. I was a bit scared of this in the bottle, it looked like foundation. Once on, oh wow! This is actually my favorite of the collection, go figure! I love a good nude polish and while this isn’t mannequin hands for me it might just be my new favorite nude.

Carey is a medium blue toned grey. Zoya’s website describes it as periwinkle grey. I’m not sure how unique this one is but it’s gorgeous!

Kendal is a very muted/greyed out lavender. I think this might be the lightest purple you could probably get. It reminds of something Essie would do but I don’t think I have anything from them that is quite this light.

Kennedy is a pink toned beige-y nude shade. I don’t love this on my skin tone unfortunately, which is odd because usually pink toned beige is what I like best.  Even though this isn’t the greatest on me I’m sure it will look fantastic on a ton of other skin tones!

Kristen is a pale blue grey. I love this one, it’s such a gorgeous shade. I’ve been waring it for a couple days with Essie Shine of the Times over it and it’s gorgeous! Out of everything in this collection I have a feeling I will be grabbing for this one the most.

Megan is a light grey, Zoya says it’s a taupe grey. It feels like the lighter version of Carey to me. This was my least favorite, I just feel like I’ve already got so many grey polishes similar to it. If you don’t though this is a great one!

Overall I LOVE this collection, sure the shades might have been done before but I love creamy soft neutrals like this. They are perfection for Winter and even for Spring, I could see something like this as a Spring collection also. Formula wise all of them except for Megan were on the thick side, I didn’t have issues applying them. My best advice is to make sure you get a lot of the polish off the neck of the brush before you start putting on the polish and you should be fine. I’ve heard some complaints about the formula on these and maybe I’m a weirdo or something but I actually prefer polishes like these that have a thick formula…they are easier for me to work with. My one issue was the formula on Megan, it was on the thin and watery side so I had some trouble controlling it, but it was still opaque in 2 coats!

My picks from the Feel Collection are Avery and Kristen, the others are all gorgeous too if you are in the market for neutrals like this! When I was just starting out with hoarding collecting nail polish I felt like I was always searching for shades like this, they are a good staple in any collection!

The Feel Collection is available now on Zoya.com for $8 each, I’m not sure if/when they will be at Ulta. Speaking of Ulta, has anyone noticed that Ulta has started carrying some core Zoya shades? I noticed when I was there the other day, it made me happy! I already had all the shades they had out but I just like seeing Zoya places that are easily accessible because I love the brand!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection Swatches

Published

on

Good Morning guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was boring…I guess that’s good? haha

Today I have for you guys swatches of the first of 2 summer collections Color Club has put for this year. This one is called Wicked Sweet. All of the polishes in this collection are scented, and there are a couple interesting combos, color wise. I have heard that this set is already popping up at Ross and is also available on some etailers like Transdesign.com and VictoriasNailSupply.com (my 2 favorites!)

First up Is Get Your Lem-On. This one was pretty sheer, but the color is fab. I don’t have anything dupey in my stash. It’s a bright highlighter yellow with a green shimmer. On it’s own I needed 4 coats for okay opacity, I could have used another but I’m not down with doing 5 coats of polish lol. I also have it layered over white on my ring finger in the pictures below. Over white I only needed 2 coats, awesome! The only downside to layering it over the white is that it seemed to kill that awesome shimmer, you could still see it but it wasn’t very noticeable 🙁 Get Your Lem-On smells like….you guessed it, Lemon Candy.

The Lime Starts Here is a bright neon green, I do like this color but it’s nothing new we haven’t seen before.  The formula was just okay, for a neon it did well, no dragging bald spotsI Always Get My Man-Darin is a bright orange packed with shimmer! I have a lot of orange in my stash, but again nothing like this one. The formula on this was pretty much exactly the same as Get Your Lem-On, very sheer. On it’s own I used 4 coats and 2 coats over white on my ring finger.

Saturday Spam: Lynnderella

Published

on

Hi guys, hope you’re all having a good weekend so far…I sure as heck am, more on that tomorrow! Today I have a big helping of spam for you….this spam is all Lynnderella! I’ve been waffling on posting this because for the past few months Lynnderella=drama. The drama associated with it turns me off the brand so I had decided not to post pictures of what I have. Then I kind of tested the waters in my Indie spam post with 1 Lynn polish and everyone liked it, so I decided what the heck I’ll just post everything I have that I haven’t shown before in one post. Hope you guys enjoy!

If you want to buy Lynnderella polishes it’s a bit of a process…you have to send in a wish list to Llarowe then wait for your last name to come up in her rotations. I think the 1st rotation of wish lists is still going on so depending on your last name you could be waiting for like 4-5 months, it wasn’t too bad for me but I know some people are frustrated with the wait. I know the waiting sucks but I do like that at least you get everything you want eventually. It’s worth it just to avoid the mad dash of trying to get things before they sell out in .5 seconds during re-stocks. Right now Llarowe is not accepting wish lists but last I heard she would be taking them again soon-ish.

Alright guys…I’m just going to tell you what I layered these over (for most of the polishes) instead of writing a little novel about each! Hope ya don’t mind!

Boy Girl Party over Zoya Ginessa. FYI there is diamond shaped glitter in this…LOVE!!

Very Pretty Vampire over OPI Black Onyx. I actually really don’t love this combo but I was losing daylight so I couldn’t re-do it. My favorite way to wear VPV is over purple!

piCture pOlish New Collaboration Shades: Siren Song, Geode, Douceur & Imperial

Published

on

Hi guys! Today I have 4 of the 5 new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish to share with you! These were released a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t wait for them to show up at my house. I always love the collaboration shades, it’s fun to read the posts of the girls who created the shades plus I usually feel like these are shades I want too but don’t already own.

Douceur is a light nude/beige base with fuchsia glitter mixed throughout. This was a collaboration with Tartofraises somehow I had never heard of her blog but since getting her shade I’ve been over there looking through her posts and she does really beautiful nail art! To read her post about the shade check out her blog here.  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn’t streaky at all.

Imperial is a super vibrant purple with a heavy blue shimmer and gold glitter. This is a collaboration with Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. I was so excited to see this one, Jeanette is a blogger that I’ve become friends with over the last couple years and I had no doubt that if piCture pOlish ever collaborated with her it would be gorgeous. Well, let me tell you Imperial is insanely gorgeous…this is one of my favorite collaboration shades ever and will most likely be a favorite for 2013 for me. I wore it all of last week and was sad to take it off.

Imperial is super vibrant, more so in real life than it appears in photos, I’m also dying over the stunning blue shimmer in this. I loved how the shimmer was visible in the sun and didn’t disappear in the shade.  If you want to read about how Jeanette came up with Imperial and see her beautiful photos of it check out her blog here. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque…I had no issues with application. This does dry a bit matte due to the neon pigment in it.

Siren Song is a sea foam green with a silver flecked shimmer. This is a collaboration with Rebecca Likes Nails. This shade was inspired Fender guitars & bass guitars by Mark & Tom from Blink 182. Ah yes…now that’s my kind of inspiration I love me some Blink 182 and have seen them live several times throughout the years…even stood in like for like 6 hours about 10 years ago to meet them (now I feel old btw). I love the shimmer/glitter in this. It’s bigger than shimmer but smaller than micro glitter…it’s interesting! To read more about the inspiration and naming of Siren Song check out Rebecca’s post here. The formula was good, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect with the second coat.

All of the new Collaboration shades are available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
